3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with a medium, off-white head.
Aroma: Sweetened coffee with dried dark fruits and anise. Roasty malts with subltle peat notes.
Taste: Dark, roasted maltiness with some lesser toasted qualities and a crystal malt sweetness. Hint of dark fruitiness. Pleasant smoked maltiness with a distinct touch of peat. Mild hop character with the bulk of the relatively low bitterness coming through from the roasted barley. Roasty, sweet and sour finish.
Palate: Medium-bodied. Low, easy-going carbonation.
Overall: Scotch porters are not my favorite style, but this was very nice. Not overly sweet. Balanced and drinkable. The scotch ale qualities balance the porter nicely.

Easy on the tongue, sweetness which is not over powering. Kinda heavy feeling on the stomach.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a thick dark brown with a tightly bubbled cream head, aroma of chocolate, super smooth roasted flavours with coffee aftertaste. A rich full flavoured Porter for those that love dark beers.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
@ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear dark mahogany with a thick rim head and no lace. Taste is lightly smoked caramel malt with peat and earthy overtones. Flavor builds through the palate before adding a very light bittering to balance in the finish. A somewhat chewy, oily brew, filling, and not as satisfying as I would like. Decent, not great.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Pours a medium rapidly collapsing beige head, with some lacing, over a clear dark brown (SRM 30) body....nose is coffee, chocolate, smoke, hints of dried fruit.....taste is light smoke (with hints of Scotch Whisky), chocolate, coffee, cocoa, hints of toffee/caramel, leading to a moderate bitter finish with hints of pine and citrus peel.....mouth feel medium, slightly sticky, alcohol hidden, carbonation adds a tingle and light acid. This is a wonderfully complex, well balanced beer. It is a bit of a cross between a Scotch Ale and a Porter but does not over step the styles in such a way as to create a real muddle. BJCP 8/3/15/4/7

Decent Porter. Pours black. Aromas are sweet and malty... Caramel. Flavors are bitter malts with enough of that peat and caramel sweetness to keep it balanced.

Bottle pours a really dark red-brown, with a tan head. The aroma is pretty malty, light smoke note. The taste is smooth, the malt provides a nice bitter in the finish. Overall the roasted barley is strong, giving this beer a good taste and a rich finish.
