COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Coffee Stout is rich and smooth with just a hint coffee flavor. It is crafted using five different malted grains, which results in dark color and flavors of chocolate and heavily roasted malt. We then partnered with Des Moines based U.S. Roasterie to select a Mocha Java coffee to add depth and flavor to beer. We think it turned out great and hope you will agree!

Bottle shared by adneilsen. Pours opaque with a small, fizzy tan head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is coffee, roast, and peaty malt, earthy and herbal hops, prunes and plum notes. Flavor is coffee, earthy malt, dark fruity esters, medium hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle @ Dan’s house. Deep brown/black appearance with a small, light brown head. Roasty, dark chocolate, coffee, light vanilla, a bit charred aroma. A little light bodied, roasty, charred malty, dark chocolate, espresso flavor. Pretty roasty flavor. Not bad.

Dark brown pour, brown head. Aroma is coffee up front, roast and chocolate. Lots of coffee flavor, cocoa nibs, roast, light lactose tartness. Good!

22 oz. bottle shared by birchstick- thanks, Jon! Pours a dark coffee brown with a small tan head. Straightforward aroma of coffee, chocolate, molasses, and burnt toast. Flavor of coffee, cream, milk sugar, and fudge. Medium-bodied, with mellow carbonation and a smooth, roasty mouthfeel. Very simple, and struck me as more of a coffee porter than coffee stout.

Bomber courtesy of pepsican. Pours dark briwn with a rocky tan head. Smells of roasted coffee beans, chocolate, soy sauce, earthy. Tastes of roasted malt with some nice bitter coffee undertones and a semi sweet caramelly finish.

Bottle thanks to Ed. Pours a pure black color with a medium white head. The aroma is sweet roasted coffee. The flavor comes across as a rich milky coffee with some smoke and a big roast. Balanced by the sweetness and roast. Enjoyable.

12/23/13. 22oz bottle from Moline Hy Vee. Upping my Iowa Cred while visiting the QC. Black pour with a small tan head. Big roast on the aroma, lots of coffee, mild chocolate sweetness. Less coffee in the flavor, hints of chocolate and ash, some maltiness, finishes dry with a surprisingly thin body. Not bad.

Bomber. Perfectly black colored body with a light brown sugar colored head. The nose has lots of sweetened coffee. There is also a little bit of milk chocolate and a grainy note like field corn. The taste has light coffee roast along with some soybeans. There is a peanut finish along with a bit of milk chocolate. This one is decent. Good to see a special edition stout that isn’t a big alcohol beer.
