(22oz bomber). Pours like cola with a tan head. I would prefer this to be unfiltered. Aroma has caramel, banana, clove and a little smoke. Taste is sweet with more of the smokiness. Thinner bodied with a slick texture. Fizzy mouthfeel. Not bad, but I’d just as soon pick up an actual German Dunkel.

22 oz. bomber, $4.49 at HyVee in Newton. Deep amber to brown pour, a huge head like a porter kicks up when I poured it in my smaller 312 glass. Nice malt smell with a side order of clove spiciness, nothing over the top. I like the taste. Malty, subdued clove and wheat spice, and an almost sessionable level of alcohol. No, strike that last bit; I’m starting to build a bit of buzz. In fact, after sitting in my glass to warm up, I get a bit of banana esters. Light stickiness around my lips. A lot of Dunkels I get are in the "extreme" category, but this is more restrained.

22 oz bomber purchased at Beertopia in Omaha, Nebraska. The pour is a darker brown, with copper highlights and a one inch light khaki head. The head falls quickly. The aroma is banana and bubble gum, clove and malt wheat grain. Mostly strong banana and bubblegum. As it warms and opens up, a soft roast char comes out in the nose. The taste is sweet bubblegum, clove, a soft faint roast char malt character and nice mineral in the finish. The big yeast of the nose is folded into the wheat and malt in the taste nicely. The palate is medium bodied, slick mouth feel, and dry finish with the roast and mineral. Tasty beer, easy drinking.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of pepsiedcan. Thanks peps! Pours a dark brown, fairly clear appearance with a tan head. The nose is a little more roasty than other dunkelweizens but does have the trademark, some banana, spicy clove, quite sweet aroma. Pretty spicy, again quite roasty malty, chocolate, some banana, spicy clove flavor. A little thin and quite spicy.

Aroma is wheat grain, bananas and tart fruit. The flavor is malts, bananas and sweet/tart raspberry. Pretty good dunkelweizen.

Dark, bold, yet wheaty, very smooth, with banana aftertaste, it’s only a seasonal, I will be sad when it’s gone.

[Bottle] Pours cola-brown with a small beige head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is pretty nice, with a good dose of banana and bubblegum. The taste is not quite as good, but it grew on me. A little too minerally, but banana again, and my girlfriend got chocolate, but I didn’t detect any. Medium mouthfeel, finish length is a little below average. Enjoyable, but not overly impressive.

A deep brown brew with a light brown head. The nose has some rich toffee and molasses. There is also some dough. the taste is toffee on top of a light coffee character. There is also some bread crust and a spicy black pepper finish. I got some hints of cinnamon. A decent brew, but finishes dusty.

Draft. Poured a cloudy, opaque chocolate milk color with a brown head. Grainy nose with ample clove and a whiff of banana. Medium bodied and delicately sweet with mild unexpected bitterness at the end. A bit chalky in the mouth. Cereal, hay, and banana flavors.

phone rate. reddish brown pour with a nice sized head. Lots of clove in this one, a bit too much for me. Some banana and sweet malt poke around. Thicker finish, a touch sweet for my tastes when combined with the yeast notes. Still pretty decent.
