Hopbursting is a relatively new brewing technique in which the vast majority of hops are added to the kettle late in the boil in order to achieve enhanced extraction of hop components (ie, Hopbursting gives you tons of hops flavor and aroma!) Our Hopburst IPA has a substantial malt base, balanced with huge additions of our unique hop blend. This creates an incredibly flavorful beer, with smooth bitterness and hoppy goodness.

The first smell was ok. The beer didnt knock anything out of the infield. Aroma was nothing. Taste was malty and muted hops. Finish was overly bitter. Another sad Iowa ipa :( ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thanks to reeceg for this freebie in a trade!! Overall decent IPA from a brewery I had never tried. Nice hop aroma from the pour. Head disappeared quickly and left plenty of lacing. Went down very smooth with a perfect amount of bitterness. Nice notes of floral and citrus. I’d drink it again given the chance.

12/24/13. 12oz bottle from the Milan Hy Vee. Hazy amber pour with a small khaki head. Mild hop aroma, earthy and floral, more malty aspects, caramel, doughy. Malty flavor, caramel and biscuits, doughy, with mild hops, floral and sweet. Meh. Perhaps an old bottle.

Bottle shared by drowland at xmas, pours a hazy copper with a thin head, the aroma wasn’t really all that fresh, might have been an older bottle, the flavor was more sweet than anything with more malt and biscuit coming through than hops, a little bit of citrus shows right at the end, but again, might be an older bottle, there wasn’t a date on it to verify. Kind of meh.

Bottle shared thanks to Tim and Rachel! Pours a hazy golden brown with thin lacy off-white head. Aroma of slight citrus hop and light caramel. Taste follows, a little weaker, less caramel and more biscuit. Not the best, but admittedly old.

Bottle: Pours an attractive amber color with a thick finger of creamy beige head. Lots of sticky lacing and great retention throughout. The nose is fresh and wet; florals and pine, along with a sweet maltiness. The malty base hints APA over IPA and the taste confirms this. Flavors of citrus and pine, along with faint herbals. Strong malty presence. Refreshing and flavorful, but not the hoppy experience I was led to expect from the label.

Bottle from Johns. No date (AFAICT), hope it’s this year’s. Copper with ring. Grassy leafy hop aroma with a little vegetal malt. Mild toasted caramel malt with minimal fruitness. Medium assertive citrus rind and woody hops finish. Fairly dry. Mild astringency. Medium body. Lively carbo. Pretty good.

Pours a deep hazy amber with a medium off white creamy head. Aroma of orange zest, caramel malt, nuts and a nice sweet hop profile. Flavor of tropical fruits, citrus zest, nice but not harsh hop bitterness. Nice and dry with some caramel and nutty notes to balance. Was expecting a caramel bomb but it wasn’t! This bottle is at least 3 but probably more months old. Need to try a freshy.
