COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pastime Pale Ale is a “hopped up” version of an American style pale ale. The beer is deep amber to copper in color, and receives several generous additions of Centennial and Cascade hops. These hops give the beer a complex and enticing character, with spicy aromas of citrus and pine. Specialty grains deliver a rich and full-bodied flavor, with a bold taste of caramel and toasted malt. Our brewery is located in the former headquarters of the Maytag Corp., and the “Pastime” was the first washing machine made by the Maytag company in 1907.

A good beer in my opinion. One to just relax and enjoy. Has a bit of, coffee, roasty, grass, spruce taste that I don’t like, but it isn’t as strong as some other beers. So I say give it a try.

12 fl oz bottle. From Iowa. A big thank you to John M.
Clear amber colour with a small white head. Sweet fruity hops, moderate bitterness and some caramel in the aroma. The flavour is rather easy but not bad. There’s sweet fruity hops, sweet caramel and mild bitterness. Very drinkable. Maybe a bit too sweet...

Bottle, LOL. Seemed really metal-ly. I drank most of it and kept thinking it tasted like tin foil.

Bottle. Pours golden amber with a white head. Toffee sweet malts, grains, and lightly citric and floral hoppy notes, followed by a balanced sweet and hoppy finish. A pretty run-of-the-mill APA.

Bottle at Blipp’s surprise tasting. Pours copper amber with white head. Nose and taste of light caramel malt, old citrus and grapefruit rind, light pine and resin. Touch sticky. Lighter medium body.

Bottle in Iowa City. Thanks to adnielsen for sharing. Pours a copper color with white head. Piney, resiny, hoppy, caramel aromas. Caramel, spicy, dry hopped flavors. Meh.

Bottle @ Holiday Inn Iowa City picked up @ John’s Grocery. Pours a clear burnt orange appearance with an off white head. Somewhat dull herbal, woody hoppy, slightly spicy aroma. Smells a bit old. Caramel, light cardboard, a bit bready, a bit spicy, woody flavor. This bottle must be a bit old but I can’t imagine it would be much better fresh.

Bottle. Rich copper pour with a small spotty head. Nice caramel malt and citrus hop. This is better than I expected.

Draft sample. Amber in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of dusty citrus, caramel and pale malts. Lots of caramel malt/iced tea flavors going on, backed by more sweet citrus and iron. Moderate bitterness with a full mouthfeel. Too heavy on the specialty malts for my taste.

Standard pale ale. The color is a nice amber with lots of carbination. Not much in the nose or on the palate honestly. Just a good old American Pale Ale. Can be a good session beer.
