COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pastime Pale Ale is a “hopped up” version of an American style pale ale. The beer is deep amber to copper in color, and receives several generous additions of Centennial and Cascade hops. These hops give the beer a complex and enticing character, with spicy aromas of citrus and pine. Specialty grains deliver a rich and full-bodied flavor, with a bold taste of caramel and toasted malt. Our brewery is located in the former headquarters of the Maytag Corp., and the “Pastime” was the first washing machine made by the Maytag company in 1907.

Draft sample. Amber in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of dusty citrus, caramel and pale malts. Lots of caramel malt/iced tea flavors going on, backed by more sweet citrus and iron. Moderate bitterness with a full mouthfeel. Too heavy on the specialty malts for my taste.

Standard pale ale. The color is a nice amber with lots of carbination. Not much in the nose or on the palate honestly. Just a good old American Pale Ale. Can be a good session beer.

Golden amber pour with a lingering heavy off-white head. Aroma is mostly citrus hops with a bit sweet caramel. Taste is bit more balanced, a bit of citrus followed by some bready malt. Finishes somewhat dry and faintly bitter.

Big amber body. Taste a ton of cascade hops like a lot of pale ales. It’s good, but could use some more aroma. The nose is ok, but for a hopped up APA I expected a little more complexity. The caramel and citrus balance of the hops is really good though. This is definitely a beer I can drink a few of and still enjoy how balanced it is. More of a medium bodied beer and it finished with the hops instead of the malt. Nice lingering flavor. Awesome beer to grab at an IA cubs game too, given the rather domestic selection at the stadium.
