COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a Scotch ale like no other. The brewers use the finest smoked malt for flavor complexity and then combine it with roasted barley, and caramel malts for a rich distinctive and smoky flavor. These ingredients give it a deep, dark color with a smooth, rich finish that is surprisingly drinkable.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. The aroma is sour, apple. Super thin, toasted bread, fruity. This is terrible, big infection. The infection made this beer lifeless.

From a bottle. Dark amber, thin, off-white head. Smells like caramel, light amber earthy and floral hops, cookie, raisin, plum, light roast. Dry finish. Light/medium body and medium carbonation.

To my palate a milder "dark" beer than I expected, bit more complexity on the palate but somewhat flat up front. A faint nuttiness on the nose, decent if you are looking for a less filling dark beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at brewpub in Belgrade, MT. Foamy tan over green whisky, malt ale. Heavy toasty malt. Cool, muddy scotch, tart hops and indistinct grain. Not very good or interesting.

Bottle at home, thanks to Cole. From my Minneapolis Town Hall glass. Pours deep chocolate brown, with a thin off-white head and spotty to poor lacing. Nose is smoke, caramel corn, some light fruit/syrup. Flavours are sweet smoke, more corny butter, kinda a bad show. Middle of the road at best.

much more like a brown than a scotch. Very little peaty nose. Low hops. Lacked depth, but ok

Dark amber pour with reddis hue and small off white head. Aroma of malts, caramel and bread. Taste of malts, slight caramel and faint hop bitterness. Metallic and tinny taste present as well. Nice carbonation, thin mouthfeel. Not very good for this style.
