12 ounce can. Pours a golden orange. Light hop aroma followed by a quick citrus taste. Bit of lemon in there too. Solid offering.

What’s my slant MadTree? I would say it is one of Cincy’s better attempts to make something that is drinkable in a horribly inept market. This is nice and assertively dry. More on the dry grapefruit side, than sweet pineapple and malt side. I’m looking for any bright spots in the Cincy beer scene and MadTree may be one of them.

pours gold with a thick white head...nice lacing and retention. aroma has freshy leafy hops with light citrus and earthy tea notes...floral...just a bit of malty sweetness. flavor follows suit with slightly more sweetness up front...adds mild herbal and resinous notes. mouthfeel is medium and the finisn is resinous/earthy and bitter/dry.

12 ounce can
Found when passing through Cincinnati this is another excellent product from Madtree. One of these days I will actually make it to the brewery to try some of their beers on draft. In the meantime I can only hope that this, and other Cincinnati brands, slowly migrate north into the Columbus and Cleveland markets so more people discover great beer.
Aroma / Appearance - A semicarbonated amber base is the color of peaches. Crisp white head lingers on top idly. Citrus, rosy floral hops, oranges, and malt blend into a smooth profile that hangs like dew in the air.
Flavor / Palate - Mango, citrus, orange slices, and fresh floral hops are bright on the tongue. Following through into a pleasing bitter finish this is a big IPA with a resiny bite. I don’t know how MadTree has stayed under the radar so long but with beers like this it will not be long before they too are a star at events like the Great Taste of the Midwest.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample at Daily Growler during the Cincinnati Beer Invasion on 01/23/014: Clear copper color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, pine and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of floral hops, malt and citrus. The finish is moderately bitter with a short herbal hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a slightly hazy straw color. Looks almost like a wheat beer. My pour had zero head. Hoppy, grass and maybe some light sweetness in the aroma. Grapefruit, an earthy quality and tangerine in the flavor. Lingering bitterness.

12oz bottle. These days expectations for IPAs are pretty intense. Slightly hazy orange-tan body. Foamy off-white head. Lemony, zesty pink grapefruit, grassy tangerine aroma. Golden clean malt body, not too weighed down by thick caramel or crystal malts. Has a touch of that nice fresh garlic thing going on. I can see how this would be quite nice fresh on tap...its pretty nice in the can too! A well done, modern IPA. I’d go back for more of this.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Gorgeous gold amber pour, 2 fingers of head. Pine hops, grass, caramel malt in the nose and taste. Medium bodied. Probably not enough here to keep the hardcore hopheads interested but it makes for a good lawnmower ipa, if such a thing exists.
