cjw163 (108), hummelstown, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 11, 2007 12oz bottle from joe’s garage. I LOVE magic hat but this was just average pale ale. JasonG (700), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Apr 10, 2007 12oz bottle - Crystal clear pale, slightly sickly straw yellow color, almost more like dyed water, with almost non-existant pure white head. Aroma is crisp, lager-like, bit of honey and wheat, white grapes. Flavor has fair amount of honey, note of corn, crisp wheat. Finish is on the sweet side. AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA Apr 9, 2007 A rich, golden color with some dandruff floating in suspension with a thin, white, almost non-existent head. Aroma is quite sweet and fruity with a strong german hop character. Flavor is quite sweet, the fruitiness that was in the aroma did not translate into the flavor as much as expected and the heavy handed use of continental european hop varieties takes the centerstage on the palate. Is this a czech-style, though incredibly sweet, pilsner-like ale? b33r (363), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Apr 7, 2007 Light gold color with small head. Aroma is a little sweet and somewhat hoppy. Flavor was bland and nutty, with light hop and malt flavors. MrBunn (1521), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 6, 2007 Bottle. Golden color with quite a bit of effervescence, but little head. Aromas are decidedly of sweet malt, maybe a touch of hay, and not much else that I’m picking up. Flavor is highlighted by a sweet onset of malt that gives way to a grassy and slightly floral hops finish that has a slight hint of peppery spicing. All in all, it’s pretty good, but does little to hold my attention for too long. Drew (2406), Kent, Ohio, USA Apr 5, 2007 It’s hard to guess the mystery beer when they call it an ale but it tastes like a pilsener. Light yellow straw, short head. Lightly sweet aroma with some grassy spice. Carbonated palate, sweet bready malts, and some grassy dusty hops in the finish. Light and refreshing. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 4, 2007 Joe’s Garage, 12 oz. Dark straw pour, with some pale malt and hopcit aroma. Light palate heft, with some hop, corn flakey pale malt, and fruit flavors. Uninspiring, but I’d drink it again, if that makes any sense. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Mar 29, 2007 12oz bottle from the Joe’s garage pack that magically has started appearing here in central ohio. Pours golden with a short white head and lots of carbonation bubbles rising to the top. Aromas of light dough and some mild grassy hops. Flavor is very similar with doughy notes, a little frosted flakes, and some slight german hops at the finish. Palate is crisp and clean and pretty light and well carbonated. All in all this is pretty average though nothing impressive.. Glad to see Magic Hat showing up in Ohio now though..
