2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 JoePeesie (574) - Long Lake, Illinois, USA - SEP 1, 2011
This brew is touted as a mysterious not quite pale ale. I would call it a fairly simple average pale ale. It it was BMC vs #9, #9 wins hands down. As far as pale ales go, there are far better and far worse out there.

the only secret to this overly sweet ale is that they use apricots in the brewing process - the nose is all fruit like grilled pineapple - the head quickly went away with no bottle lacing - the finish is similar to having fruit puree - total gimmick like all of magic hats brews and the names they give them

Why hello, commonly-available beer I havent yet rated. Surprised to see they no longer say anything about brewing with apricots on the label. Pours hazy bright light orange with a soft white head. Nose of apricots; mild wood and cardboard and light hops. Sweet malt. Taste is lots of sweet apricot and peach. Hell, I like this beer. Really the only Magic Hat beer I’d drink again.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden thin head. Fruity aroma cherry, apricot. Flavor is sweet with a faint light surge of bitterness. Medium-thin body, a quick, crisp, dry finish. Something good to mix it up once in awhile not my favorite.

UPDATED: SEP 18, 2011 22oz bottle. Pours a cloudy orange/amber with small white head. Sour aroma, overripe fruit, sugary syrup. Taste is light fruits with berries. Thinly textured; dry.

Crisp, clean pale malt aroma to start followed by a sweet, fruity aroma like strawberries. Crystal clear light copper with a white head. Toasted grain flavor with a light honeyed sweetness and a little of that strawberry fruit along with maybe apricot or white peach. There must be some hops in there to balance the sweetness, but they aren’t very noticeable. Finishes sweet and smooth.

12-oz bottle at my parents’ house drinken with dinner (eaten w Erica). In a shaker. Pours a light amber-orange with big white head. No lacing. Aroma is sugary and a little cheese with light hops. Taste is non-citrusy fruit, like peach with a little malty bitterness. Kind of tastes skunky, but I must admit that this gets better with each sip. Good thing I drank the whole bottle.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 Poured from a tap into a pint glass. Orange look with about a half-inch of head. Had a fruity smell, maybe apricot or plum? Mildly carbonated. Had a peach flavor, so not apricot or plum. Didn’t taste as fruity as it smelled. The good taste lasted throughout the beer.
