3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Rich: The beer pours a slightly hazy pale gold hue with a fizzy head and goodlace. The aroma has notes of apricot, apple, and pear with some grassy hops notes, bready malt and hint of musty yeast. The taste is sort of bland at the beginning but then the fruit sharpeness and twang comes through on the finish and lingers on for quite a while. Sort of tastes like fruit salad, a little of everything, I get a little raspberry even in addition to the fruits discovered on the nose. NEATO! The feel is arghh, just so-so. I would like to seen it be a bit sharper on the palate. Overall, I didn’t know what to expect and enjoyed it, whatever it is.

A very intreasting yet drinkable beer. Apricot and peach at the nose pale malt in middle. Dry hop bitterness through the finish, fades in after taste. A nice brew to match a kabob on a sunny day.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Weird disappearing rating. Rated recently via richlikebeer. I proceed again. Dark golden color with a thin wispy white head. Light fruit and sweet pale malt aromas. I don’t catch as much apricot as others. Sweet pale malt start with a light fruity middle, more in the lines of raisin and mild pears. Mild floral hops come in and help mellow te sweetness. Thinner and quite quenching.

I truly enjoy Magic Hat #9. The subtle hints of apricot make this a great warm weather drink. Since I spend a lt of time in Vermont I can drink this a lot and I do.

Magic Hat is one of my favorite brewing companies. This is their signature beer and a good choice. A very enjoyable beer to drink.

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2011 Sampled this one on draft at Zeno’s in State College, PA. It poured a medium gold color with a small white head. There was a light sweet fruity aroma. The flavor was dry apricot with light malt notes underneath and a dry almost seed like flavor on the finish. Much dryer than I would have expected given the style and aroma. A pleasant beer overall and one I would get again.

This is Magic Hat’s signature beer, a beautiful golden color with a nice spicy aroma. The taste is very appealing, a slight crispness, this is a good session beer.

Draught at the brewery. Golden, light brown in color with a small white head. Aroma is very bitte, with a hint of fruit. Flavor is similar, slightly thin, with a good dose of raspberry in finish. More like a hoppy golden ale with fruit than a fruit beer.
