A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

I like the sweet taste, but not too sweet the after taste is very refreshing

On draft at House of Brews in NY, a tangy sour apricot-y aroma with thin head. Tastes of fruit and bread or yeast rolls with a light apricot flavor, less than in the aroma and certainly not overwhelming like some apricot beers. Palate is smooth and velvety with bright orchard fruit and just enough crisp hops for balance, melting into a soft mellow finish. Nicer than I expected.

12oz. bottle and on tap. Better on tap by far, though neither format offers an exceptional beer. Very light body and an underwhelming nose of seemingly artificial peach and apricot. The colour is reasonably pleasant but simply isn’t backed by any substantial depth of flavour outside of a very faint note of nectarines/apricots, etc. All in all a weak drink hardly worthy of its purported "mystery."

from bottle

Poured deep amber with creamy white head. Aroma very fruity. Flavor starts out sweet as expected, the fruity notes shine through what I orginally though was peaches and grapes, turns out to be apricot. Good mallty tones throughout, apricot not overpowering at all. Nice mix of flavors. Sweet aftertaste. Dry finish, light mouthfeel. Smooth to drink.

It has a nice, mellow, somewhat fruity aroma. Orangy color. Flavor that’s not overpoweringly apricot. Refreshing.

Very good ale with formidable flavor on its own. The hints of apricot do not interfere with the ale flavor. Very smooth taste and finish. Has a much thicker body than Pyramid Apricot - a comparable, yet inferior beer. Great packaging adds to overall feel.

Bottle from sampler pack. Pretty good beer that is hard to fit into a style. Plenty of apricot flavor.

Im giving this a higher rating than i initially thought i would- first, i tried it as the first beer of the night. the second time around, i had it following a very heavy weizenbock and a tremendous amount of apricot flavor was brought to my taste buds attention. It has a very smooth apricot flavor that blends surprisingly well with the pale ale-its definitely in the ’refreshing’ catagory so if that what youre looking for, its worth it. FYI definitely a good palate cleanser following a heavy beer.

Cute packinging hides a really shitty beer. I am baffled by the positive reviews. A bunch of beer snobs?

whoops, thought i rated this YEARS ago. One of the better fruit beers that you run across. Feels like a pale, but just seems a little bit off. But you can’t help like it anyway
