Much much better on tap. I did not like the bottle. I donít care for fruit beers, but this was pleasant. Good color, nice head, Crisp.

A great beer brought back from Vermont for me. Nice peachy color, light, but full of flavor.

A confusing label here. "not quite pale ale" What does that mean? "natural flavor added" Which ones? If you "read" the psychedlic/op-art label, youíll find the image of an apricot. I still donít know why itís called #9..
Peachy color, with a short, white head. Aroma is the very essence of apricots! I read that itís "a pale ale with a spritz of apricot essence." Some spritz! Thatís the cheif aromatic, and flavor, but, I donít mind, I love apricots! Texture is full and welcome. Light body, good hop play on the palate, but very little bitterness. Malt is in adequate supply. A very tasty , bright, delicious ale, that I enjoyed.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 14, 2005 A refreshing summer favorite of mine, though an old bottle or keg can really make it unremarkable. Toasty malt mixes with a sweet apricot flavor that would probably be complimented by more of a hop profile. Sometimes finishes a bit stale. Nevertheless, a nice cold #9 really hits the spot on a hot summer day.

I have had this a few times, and have been pleasantly surprsed. For a fruit beer it does not come across too sweet, has a nice transition from start to finish. Out of the Magic Hat beers I have tried, I believe this one is one of their better offerings.

orange koolaid with a head-- thatís how it looks, tiger-orange but oh so thin. this poor tiger might need life-support. the head, like cheap carpeting, wears down to the floor way too soon. very fruity aroma suggests some character, but itís more fruit than solid body. itís like the peach resin-soaked cotton coveralls of an orchard worker, that is: chewing gum fruitiness mixed with dry muslin fibers. soft bristles of carbonation donít impede the well-irrigated dried orange peel flavor, moderate sweetness and bitterness, sod grass malts, and a finish like citrus-flavored envelope glue. the combination of lots of inoffensive cool water and clarion apricot-lemon cough drop flavoring makes for a very mild and ostensibly sincere refreshment.

Bottle pours slightly hazy golden, small white milk froth like head, lively carbonation, with so-so lacing. † Slight grainy/cereal like aroma, with hints of gooseberries. † Forwardly matly, some cereal, with a soft floral and fruity like flavor. † Decent body, medium mouthfeel. † Finishes slightly sweet, crisp, with what I think to be gooseberry, currant, and maybe some raspberry. † Not bad. † Thanks goes out to jah noth for the trade!

On tap at the RPI Pub Clubhouse. Pale red in color with almost no head. The aroma is very slight and difficult to distinguish. The taste however is quite refreshing. Notes of a pale ale come through, with a hoppy character. Also prevalent is a smooth yet hard-to-identify fruit flavor. A decent drink.

Interesting almost orange color with a lite white head. Definite fruit flavor and odor, but hard to pick exactly what it is. Nice taste with a very smooth body, and virtually no aftertaste. If you are into fruit beers, this should be on your list.
