COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Apricot flavouring
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2005 Not a bad beer at all, a little weak for my liking, but very drinkable, good aroma and different taste, probably my favorite from the magic hat brewery

Pours a dark honey color with a white head. Laces nicely. Now, on to the curious aroma and flavor. It’s aroma has a strong nutmeg presence, or is that what I’m confusing for the apricots?...not a big fan of it. Is this beer or egg nog...lol. It tastes like nutmeg, too....in the finish. If you love the nog....maybe this is for you.

Very satisfactory beer. Basically a sub par pale with a weak fruit taste that does not add much to the beer.

From a 12oz bottle. Pours a crytal clear pale gold. Small head with lots of carbonation. Sparkling tiny bubbles. Sweet pear aromas and a bitter dry smell as well. Definitely dry but also kind of skunky. Don’t enjoy the fruity body at all. Light hoppy aftertaste. Mouthfeel is light and dry. Not an enjoyable brew in total. Interesting dryness for a fruit beer but for me, I do not get the appeal of this beer.

UPDATED: NOV 25, 2005 A good brew that I could have a few of, but after a while the spicy, citrus funk gets to you. I like the fruit content in this brew. This is a good brew from the folks at magic hat, but not their best.

Its always interesting to see what will be under your cap with Magic Hats brews. This poured out a clear orange with a decent sized off white head on top. The head dies quickly leaving a slight lacing around the glass. Aroma is sweet with malt with a touch of fruit and an odd smell that I couldn’t recognize. Taste is similar with a malt sweetness standing out the most over slight fruit notes and an odd taste matching the smell. Overall this is a very mild brew that is a bit odd but I can’t place my finger on what it is. Mouthfeel is a little watery. Ok drinkability, but not something I could have many of or something I would have very often.

Draught at The Ginger Man, New York. Amber colour. Earthy malt nose, along with nuts and tobacco. Malty, chewy mouthfeel. Fruity backbone. Light bodied.

Head is initially small, fizzy, off-white, fully diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted bread), lightly hoppy (apricot). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.

Nice dried fruity nose, with good pale yellow color. Flavors of hops at first with dried apricots coming on at the end. Nice clean finish. Very nice fruit ale.

Aroma is fruity. The appearance is light amber, with a thin head. The flavor is cmildly hoppy, with hints of apricot. It is pretty good, but the appearance and flavor seem fake and forced. I used to love this beer, before I knew good beer.
