Commercial Description:
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

The look is clear, golden in color, bright, and has a white head. THe smell is apricot, wheat, and fruit. The taste is weak, fruits, malts, cereal, and stone fruits.

12oz bottle from Winking Lizard Crosswoods. Clear gold color with a thin white head. Fruity and creamy aroma, but there’s something else really unpleasant in there. A friend suggested it smells like when someone gets a perm. Spot on. Disgusting. Buttery and creamy flavor with some fruit.

12oz Bottle: Pours golden yellow, reasonable white head that lowered to a thin line clinging precariously to the glass. I’m not sure if I should but I’m definitely pulling aromas reminiscent of a wheat beer - yeast, lemon, honey, and peaches. If the aroma seems muted it’s certainly not missing any flavour, this is a complex and elaborate mix of flavours I found very intriguing. Very sweet off the top with apricots and peaches coming on strong, making way to unbaked rye bread, and finishing nutty. Chasing late I’m finding demerara sugar, corn, clover honey, and almost no hops. Pulling some points for being a little watery in the mouth, but largely this is pretty enjoyable!

On tap at the Bluebonnet Brew-off. Clear gold with a decent sized white head. Aroma is of wheat, lemon, and apricot. Taste is grainy with some grain, apricot and wheat. Kind bland in the taste though.

pours a cloudy golden color with a white head. Exetreme fruity flavor with some hops. Wasn’t a big fan of this beer. Pint on tap

Tap. Poured hazy yellow with small fizzy head. Light aroma of citrus. Light bodied. Watery with a hint of hops and citrus. Finished with this funky burn. Weird and bad.

TAP: clear gold amber pour, aroma is malt and fruit. Apricot, malt, and maybe some nuttiness on taste, but I didn’t enjoy this one much.
