Apricot flavouring
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

served in standard pint glass HOPS: Cascade & Apollo / MALTS: Pale, Crystal A- yellow-golden. Pours with nearly 2-fingers of attractive off-white head; quickly drops to nice full coat. exceptional lace coating on glass as level drops. S - very fruity; Apricots!; detectable toasted malts. Highly distinctive (and hard to rate). T- sweet; mildly malty; unusual. Definitely "not quite pale ale". A slight bitterness eventually emerges in the finish. IBU = 20 M - pleasant; effervescent O: crisp & refreshing; very good hot weather brew. Also works for me in the other 3 seasons. (Notes from 10/2010 bottle)

Tap at Hard Rock in Orlando. Pint. Golden color with a medium amount of head. Lacing better than average. Aroma is very cereal and grain like...as is the taste. Some bitterness so you know they attempted to complement the malty sweet with hops. Mostly resembles other standard pale ales. Relatively solid mouthfeel bit finish is heavier than desired. Fond memories of this one in the Magic Hat grab bag at Liquor Lyle’s but that’s about it. Skippable.

Pours a light golden color with less than 1 finger of a head. Aroma of sweet fruit. Sweet malty flavor with a bit of a grape or sour apple. Little to no hop flavors or aroma present.

Enjoyable beer to drink. Fruitiness and the malt come through. Very Session-able.

Pale, clear amber with white, lacing head. Aroma is fruity , with a little spice. Flavor is the same, a little citrus. Mostly sweet, not really any hops presence. "Not quite" should read "not at all". Okay, but not what I expected.

Tap: Mellow amber-orange, burnt sunburst highlights with a moderate haze & a fizzy, bone-white head. Fruity aroma, but artificial. Chalky & off-putting apricot, orange-y notes. Reminds me of crushed vitamins. Taste is the same way. Dry grain & lots of crushed vitamin-y medicinal notes that really don’t taste good at all. Moderate peach-y fruit. But the Flintstone Vitamin taste just obliterates everything. Mild florals in the finish, that’s all. I can maybe see how this would be a craft gateway for some, but in my opinion, this beer is gross.

Bottle sample at a tasting at work. Clear golden, white head. Apricot icicle. Apricot, a little sour in the mouth. Soft fizz, light body, long apricot aftertaste. Rather disappointing.
