COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Apricot flavouring
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

decent brew, amber color, fizzy head. fruit aroma evident in the carbonation. the apricot and hjop flavors emerge as the beer warms., otherwise just a bland pale.

From bottle. Light orange color, aroma has mostly apricot with some hops. The fruit flavor is not too overpowering, but very noticeable. Don't know how many of these I could drink but its fairly refreshing.

fraternie (842) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 21, 2003
Virtually headless, golden/orange body. Aroma is fruity, oranges and apricots dominate. The malt is more of the same, crisp apricot flavor, but seems too thin. Some sourness in the finish, although it is a bit sticky and bitter.

Slight malt aroma. Body has a good bit of malt with not much biterness to balance it out. Fair amount of fruitiness, but not overwhelming. A decent brew.

Almost a pale ale in style, lots of different fruits involved in the flavors & aftertaste though too, very well balanced, waited a long time to get my hands on one these guys & I wasn't disappointed, very good brew

Amber. Subtle frutiness. Making a good fruit beer is difficult and I think this does a decent job. Not so sweet, but slightly tart.

Pours with a golden amber body topped by a thin white head with a good amount of lace. Sweet and fruity (raspberries?) aroma with a hoppy background. Sweet and fruity (raspberry?) flavor with a hoppy background and a bitter finish. Light bodied and dry.

Pours the color of clover honey with little head. Nose is very yeasty with bready notes.First sip reveals a truly unusual brew. Light bodied with a big malty presence. Not a lot of hops in here to balance in my opinion. Just plain weird.

This verges on girl-drink (what? that's a COMPLIMENT) in terms of sweetness and refreshingness. I appreciate its secretive apricot splendor.

UPDATED: APR 22, 2003 Sweet, slightly tangy peach flavor dominates and the light-medium body is consistent with the fruit flavor. Occasionally, might enjoy one in the sun, for a change of pace. Not a beer that I like to drink in quantity.
