Commercial Description:
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

Pours an light orangish with a white head. Nose of apricots, hops and some spice. Taste is where the apricot really comes through with a little spice and grasses to follow it up. Decent session beer - easy drinking.

On tap at Flying Saucer. Pours a orange copper color with a medium frothy white head. The aroma is a fruit hops with apricot and peach. Decent spotty lacing on the glass. The taste is a sweet fruit with crisp clean finish. Very easy to drink, a very good fruit beer from Magic Hat.

12oz bottle. Solid stuff if not too exciting. Light golden-orange color with a small white head. Fruity aroma with some sweet malt. Flavor is fruity (peach and apricot) with sweet malt and some mild hoppiness. Refreshing but just a little bit watery.

This is a fruit beer? I’m getting nothing but middle of the road pilsner from mine. Pour is a medium gold, with a very slight reddish tinge and a fairly thin white head. Nose is a mix of light hops and a sweet, earthiness. Flavor is pretty tame. A little hops bite, but mostly forgettable.

Great beer that always seems unique; strange brew, with a mixed variety of flavors from hops to fruit that all seem to work well together. Pretty smooth with a light to medium body that goes down easy. I’ve been drinking #9 for years and always find the overall flavor different and enjoyable.

On tap at the Tap House, Glen Ellyn, Il. Pint served and poured a cloudy copper/orange, with an okay, white head and fair lacing. Nose was of apricot juice, touch of orange rind, and a little sweet candy. Flavor started with a bit of hop dryness, touch of malt, and less fruit intensity as the aroma. Lively carbonation and a little sticky. Light but refreshing fruit beer.

Bottle. Pours golden yellow with a generous and fluffy white head. Floral aroma mixed with peach, very sweet smelling. Very light flavor, peach with wheat and malt, mellow. Kind of fizzy, very light mouthfeel, would be decent on a blistering hot day. Average.
