Commercial Description:
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

Pours bright gold into a shaker. Bright white head recedes to skim surface. Apricot aromas. Apricot upfront, middle and back. Dry sour apricot finish.

Out of the bottle, it pours a whitish-gold color with a thinner head. It has a metallic-apricot flavor tempered with generous hops. It has a medium-bitter flavor. almost like an IPA/Apricot Ale hybrid. It was interesting and drinkable - probably my favorite in the Magic Hat line. For those that like fruity beers, this is a good one. For those that don’t, well, keep moving.

Poured a hazy straw, maybe very light copper color. Soapy looking white head with some lasting power, no lacing. Smells somewhat dirty and fruity. Some hint of apricot, a little of that dirty smell and a bit tart. Very middle of the road for me, not really my style and I would not buy again.

Tap in Columbus, OH. Golden beer, decent white head. Aroma has a hint of the apricots that are described to be in this beer. Flavor very floral with a hint of the apricot. Little malt flavor accompanies the beer. Very smooth going down. To me, this is an example of a well-balanced fruit beer. Too often I taste all fruit or no fruit. This has a pleasant touch of the apricot.

Bottle in NYC. Very rich and spicy aroma. Brewed with apricots, and there is a soft, sweet and seducive apricot flavour. Sort of back porch in the shade type of beer. I liked it!

Hazy golden yellow, moderate white head. Aroma of apricots and biscuits. The apricot flavour is at the forefront, but there is balance here with some quality pale malts. The finish is dry and clean. Another nice rendition of the apricot beer.
