COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

Pours a clear yellow with a full white head that all but completely disappeared after about 30 seconds. No lacing to speak of either. The aroma actually reminds me of a kolsch more than anything. There is a slight fruitiness to it but no one individual fruit standing out above the rest. Just a soft sweet aroma with a touch of grass mixed in. The flavor is oddly grainy with a peachiness to it. The finish is short but is also where most of the flavor is delivered. Not too great.

Definitely apricot beer. Pours orange with white head, aroma is some caramel leading into the orange, apricot, touch of apple. Tate is big apricot leading nicely into some bready malt finishing sweet. Nice and refreshing, especially for a fruit beer its not too overpowering.

After many years where people just assumed I had tried this beer, I finally got it in Platte City, MO. A white colored head tops a dark gold colored body. The nose has cherries along with some apple bread dough. The taste has a little bit of apple core along with some hay notes. There is also some dirt character. A decent drink, this is light and inoffensive.

Poured from bottle. Definite fruitiness on the nose -- my brain goes ’cherry life savers’. Pours yellow-gold and unremarkable. Flavor is apple slices on toast -- for being ’not quite pale’, there’s little to no recognizable hops on the finish. Other than slight fruitiness, it’s unremarkable.

Magic Hat #9 is good for sitting at a bar with some good people or in the backyard having a barbecue. It’s not the best beer in the world, but it’s tasty and refreshing. Pours orange, aromas of apricot and malts, subtle apricot flavor and a hint of bitter on the finish. I wouldn’t go out of my way to find it, but would definitely drink it it was available. Last had it on tap at Big City in Allston, MA.

hints of apricot, mild flavor -- from a bottle. Not overpowering flavors, but I have found that batches can vary.

Sample bottle sent by Magic Hat Brewery for review Appearance: This beer pours a a golden amber with a nice white head. A little lacing is present. Smell: Whoa! Amazing apricot aroma. Very powerful apricot presence. Taste: Huge apricot sweetness with a mild hop bitterness. To me it’s apricot sweet in a good way. Mouthfeel: Medium body with medium carbonation. Drinkability: This beer is perfect for summertime. Nice crisp beer with hints of apricots. This beer has potential here in New Orleans if sold properly. I have a feeling it’ll mostly be marketed to the ladies.

Draft. Very sweet with Passion fruit or apricot. Oily palate, low carbonation. Golden brown. Hops are piney and citrusy, but do not balance the sweet. Not much lacing.
