Commercial Description:
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

Pours a clear, orangy-golden amber with a decent off-white head. Aroma is rich and fruity, malty with strong strawberry component (and I love strawberries!). Flavor is strong and malty with a definite strawberry undertone. Very smooth and a little sweet, definitely refreshing.

the overall beer is bad. what makes it of note is the apricot finish.... just enough to make this not taste like macromuck. anyway i know i need more so i had it in the baltimore airport. out of a bottle into a tumbler. i remember when i thought this was an awesome beer.

Light orange color. White head. Aroma of some malt and apricot. Mild hops, malt flavor with a background of apricot. Well balanced but mild and a bit dull. Very refreshing though, its good for a hot day.

Pours a dull orange with little head. Apricot aroma dominates, a bit one dimensional. Crisply carbonated. Lingering, even cloying apricot, sweet with some hops bitterness to balance.

Initially sampled back in July, 2004 and drank it quite often but not so much recently. The more I had this the more I found it quite refreshing but at first I didn’t like it at all. Gold body with medium head and a pretty good amount of lace. It has a sweet apricot taste with a mild hop flavor. The apricot flavor is just too sweet! I like the beer alright but wish they would tone it down a bit, which prevents me from giving it a higher rating.

Golden pour, cascade of bubbles, thin white head. Aromas of malt, spice, grain, a bit musty. Fruity taste, a bit acidic. Medium mouthfeel. Refreshing, maybe nice on a hot summer day. I’ll pass on another.

A solid brew that can be drank when you are in the mood for something light. Solid fruit flavors. A staple for the more casual beer drinker.
