Commercial Description:
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

Clear honey amber color with a medium white head. Smell is sweet apricot and malt. Taste is mostly mild apricot and a light bitterness that keeps it from being cloying at all. Nice fruit beer overall. A bit thin, but very drinkable, and it has a really nice apricot flavor to it.

Booooooooooooring.....good beer on draft when there is nothing better available, but not something I would seek out in the store. Smell/taste is peach/strawberry/apricot. Bland stuff.

On tap at Gypsy Bar in Atlantic City. Pours a clear amber color into the pint glass with an inch of white head. The scent was fruity, hoppy and some spice. Flavors of apricots, spice, hops and a clove with a bitter after taste. Not very complex, but a refreshing alternative to the other stuff that they had on tap.

some floral notes. Balanced hops. An infusion of fruitiness is a bonus. Not a poorly crafted beer, but it’s so boring and derivative that I really didn’t enjoy it.

Bottle: Poured a light amber with a small amount of head. The aroma was that of Peaches and apricots. The taste was also apricot with some hoppiness. It was very smooth but could get overly sweet if too many are had in succession.

Draft: Strong strawberry aroma. Golden color, thin head, good lacing.Tastes like it smells, clean finish. Dominated by adjuncts and contrived.

I had this on tap at a local place. The barman seemed to think it was a pumpkin beer, and I sampled it under the same delusion. It came with a small, bubbly head that sank quickly. The body was a clear pumpkiny yellow-orange, not a bad color at all I think and quite distinctive. The aroma was certainly on the sweet side, though I couldn’t tell you what the sweetness came from. The taste is complex, clear, and clean. It’s quite hoppy and bitter too, though pleasantly so, and there’s a rather sharp bite on the end. This beer seems to frustrate people, because it’s so hard to describe and categorize. I had the same difficulty, but I like it anyway. There are a lot of things going on in this beer, and I think Magic Hat deserves credit for creating such an unusual brew. It’s pretty good, too.

Looks like apricot juice with a smallish white head. Hey it smells like apricots too! What do ya know, it tastes just like apricots! One dimensional and overall it’s simply boring. This lacks both freshness and depth.
