COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Apricot flavouring
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because thereís never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

Really great and complex fruity flavors. Not over the top sweet and not the familiar fruit beer flavor. It offers a more robust malt backbone. Overall a great beer.

(backlog recollected in abstinence) On tap@Union Hall, Brooklyn 09/2012 and bottle on several occasions driving through VT 2009. One of the Msís favourites that I will always happily join in on. Honestly did not realise this had "apricot flavouring" in it and qualified as a fruit beer - would have sworn this was just a very dexterously exotically hopped APA. Tasty all the same and very pleasant uncomplicated sessioning due to the dry palate and no obvious fruit syrup adjuncts. Aroma of maracuja, pineapple and citrus more than apricot seduce to a few fast gulps before this is downed. Onedimensional bubblegum pleasure fit for worriless sessioning.

March 25, 2014. From summer sample 12 pack. Bottle poured nice golden amber with thin white head, slight lacing but nothing lingering. Aroma of sweet fruits, apricots hint of cherry and some grassy notes. Tasted syropy sweet with a slight sour aftertaste but not bitter. Flavour not strong enough to be a fruit beer. Watery palate without enough substance to linger. Not unpleasant.

From bottle. Nice orange in glass. Thin head. Medium, fruity aromas. Apricots. Some berries, which lend a sweetness to the smell. Reminiscent of a pale ale. The taste is hard to place. Tart and dry. Apricot syrup. Some malt liquor qualities. An almost cloying type sweetness creeps in as it warms, but, for the most part, can be forced down.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance had a caramel brown colored body, decent off white head dissipated very quickly, no lacing. The smell had apricot and malts. The taste was extremely sweet through fruits and malts, noted alcohol. The palate sat about a light to medium, semi-sessionable, alcohol felt, bland and watery aftertaste and finish. Overall, its decent for the style, I think Magic Hat did what they wanted. This is their flagship beer, but for me, probably wonít come back to, honestly not that thrilled.

Was very excited to try this beer, but was left disappointed. Reasonably well made with quality ingredients but there are too many competing flavors. You get fruit, grass, dark grain, sour Ö idk pretty much everything which I donít prefer.

Pours slightly hazy gold, with moderate white head. Aroma is somewhere between skunky and apricot. Flavor is the same. To the extent that itís apricot, it isnít great apricot. Overall not that great. Maybe on a hot day, ice cold, but...

3/4 pint bottle. Poured a clear golden, Actve carbonation with a half finger white head that remained throughout. Heavy lacing. Nice fruity aroma. Sweet apricot flavour. No real bitterness. Minimal aftertaste. I really enjoyed this one. Would pair nicely with fish or a pasta.

Fruity beer but it does not seem to have a natural fruit taste to it. It is a little bitter. There are better fruit beers out there.
