COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Apricot flavouring
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

Golden coloured beer with a thick fluffy tan head. Aroma is sweet and apricoty. Like apricot jam. Sweet fruity, low hop aroma, pale malt. The flavour is very similar, apricots, pale malt and an off-putting tinnny metallic flavour. The apricot flavour is pronounced and the beer is neither sweet nor cloying, but it just doesn’t do it for me.

Bottle poured a clear amber with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of bread, fruittiness and a hint of spice. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of bread, pear, light straw and a hint of spice with a crisp fruity finish.

On tap - Waterfront Manhattan. A subtle fruity aroma. Mid brown colour with not much head. Fruity hoppy flavour but needing balance and served too cold. I didn't know this was a fruit beer at the time of drinking and am suprised to see its description. What fruit is it???

Pleasant fruity aroma, light and uplifting. Rich orange, large frothy persistent head. Fairly watery palate. Watery taste too. Some peachiness and red berries too. Lawnmwer beer. Bugger all finish after a brief burst of peach. Meh.

Pale gold, thick white head. Hops and lunaria aromas's, as well as something perilously close to artificial sweetener. Taste yields apricot, bread-yeast - and that's it. How magic. Mouthfeel is like sparkling water: refreshing but empty. Oh well, well-tried. Not succeeded.

On tap at Rivermill Map Company, Blacksburg VA, July 2006. Amber colour. A pleasant, mellow beer. The apricot is clearly evident and there’s just a little sharp, hoppy bite. Not too sweet but the overall feel is perhaps just a touch too soft.

Had at smugglers notch. Bottle. Pours a copper color with a small head. Aroma is raspberries or blueberries or peaches...cant tell. Flavor is totally fruity and sweet. I wonder what fruit it is? Fun beer to try and figure out what is in it for sure.
