COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Apricot flavouring
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

This was a surprise and a good one. the fruit tone was subtle and as a pale ale it was a definite keeper.

[US West Coast Trip 2013] okej, den här hade jag svårt för. Aroman var helt OK, rätt färsk och fruktig. Men smaken, syrlighet, citrus, lätt, nja smaken håller inte klass.

A vigorous pour into my Teku glass produces a fat-two-finger thick, pale head. The beer is a pretty, almost orange tinged, rich gold color that shows a brilliantly clear, lighter version of the same when held up to the light. The aroma is perfumed with floral apricot notes, thought it is not as overwhelming as I was expecting. This is supported by soft, hay like, and cracker like, pale malt character.

Quite effervescent, and fairly light bodied, there is a definite floral fruit character to this beer; the latter brings out some light tartness here. There is a soft, chewy, cracker like, and pale grain laden malt character to this beer that helps to balance the floral apricot fruitiness. There is just enough bitterness here that there is a bite to the finish.

I was expecting something a bit more like Pyramid Apricot, the Apricot flavor is a bit softer here, though it is still the dominant note. This is a nice enough beer, good for a mindless beer to quaff on a hot summer’s day, or after a long, hot drive through the desert and a beer proffered as a token of camaraderie (the latter being applicable right now).

355ml bottle from Beer Hawk - Orange coloured body, feint wisp of a head, not too pretty. The nose is "mystery fruit" - is it Strawberry? Peach? Nectarine? Not sure. Bit dry on the taste, palate a bit sticky, with a quite flat carbonation. Decent enough fruity, but not one I’d have again.

Had it on tap at Yard House in Glenview IL. Poured a clear dar amber. Thin head bad aroma, and cough syrup fruity taste. Bad combo.
