COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Apricot flavouring
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

Deep blond color. A poor Ale, with soft corners and some baking yeast character, maybe a light fruit touch too.

2006-09-06, bottle, 6-3-6-3-12=30
Amber color; big head. Some malt flavor with a gentle fruitness; the aroma as well shows some redberry touch. Quite bitter at the end. Drinkable.

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2004 Light, bubbly nose with no hint of. . .anything until the body, which is extremely light and tasteless. I had to stretch to pretend i tasted some apricot. This could be one of the most tasteless yet inoffensive beers. Reminded me much like a cool tasty glass of spring water.

thin head over a light amber coloring. smells like a garbage container and it tastes like a licking a dirty ashtray filled with water.

This "fruit beer," which it is not truely at all, is rather lousy. In most pubs this beer is sold as a lager or a brown ale. From the moment it touches one’s tongue, an immediate spalsh of perfume is noted. The uninformed novice may understand that scent/taste to be "fruitiness." I fouthrightly disagree. The odors and flavors are much more flowery than fruity. I would imagine a better flavor could be attained from drinking old rose water from a vase. This beer leaves a soapy coating on the roof of the taster’s mouth as well. Overall, considering the pricetag on a pint of this in Philadelphia is over five dollars, this is a beer to avoid.

Draft: Strong strawberry aroma. Golden color, thin head, good lacing.Tastes like it smells, clean finish. Dominated by adjuncts and contrived.

Pours a clear golden orange color with virtually no head. Aroma is fruity but very faint. Flavor is apricot and peach, with a hint of tannins. I noted this almost tasted like a weak peach tea. Mouthfeel is thin and watery. Just a hint of hop bitterness in the finish to remind you it’s a beer, but that’s about it. Just couldn’t get into this one.

Pours copper in colour with a moderate head. Very strange floral taste with an apricot aftertaste. I’d say its a fruit beer with IPA tones. Not a fan but it’s complex taste may well make this someone’s favourite.

-Date Tasted : 1-12-10
-Rating : 2
-Brew Date/Batch# : N/A
-Mode : 22oz. bottle
-Source : St. Louis area grocery
-Appearance : good amber and golden
-Aroma : smell sweet and like hair cleaning supplies
-Flavor : nasty, how do they even call this “not quite pale ale”. They need to tell you that this is a fruity beer. Tastes like rotten apricots and dirty peaches.
-Overall : I couldn’t even finish this one because I hate sweet fruity beers. I wouldn’t drink this ever again. Very disappointing that this beer is coming from Magic Hat. I claim false advertisement I didn’t know I was getting a fruit beer.

Chronoflash (76) - New York, USA - SEP 13, 2010
A clear orange-gold body and a dense white head with very low persistence. The aroma is heavily of apricot and orange peel, with a slight spiciness but no to low maltiness. A light body carries a very tart-sweet flavor, with a sharp bite on the finish. Not a terribly wonderful beer, and far too tart to be complex.
