COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Beer Cloaked in Secrecy An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A beer brewed clandestinely and given a name whose meaning is never revealed. Why #9? Why, indeed. A sort of dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there’s never been anything else quite like it. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting English yeast.

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2003 This beer rocks. The aroma is of coffee and apricot. A very crisp, dry finish. Yum.

Have been partial to this beer for many years. Hazy orange and gold, creamy white head. Lots of apricot, earth and malt in the nose. Similar in taste, but you actually can feel the bittering hops battle the fruit to the end. Medium bodied with a dryish finish. Easy drinking on a warm summer day. I'll never kick #9 aside.

Very simple, yet balanced enough that I enjoyed drinking this. It pours a slightly cloudy ambery orange color with a thin white head which dissipated almost immediately yet left a slight lacing on my glass. Aroma of apricots, mandarins, grapefruit peel, malts, sugar candy and nectarines...very sweet to say the least. Perhaps a slight honey quality as well. The flavor is light and ends incredibly dry. Big malty flavor with a mandarin/nectar and slight honey finish. Sugar coated tongue finish, very sweet and appealing. Good mouthfeel, actively carbonated with a sweet honey aftertaste that was nicely long lasting. A very surprising beer that I’d enjoy having a sixer of on hand!

Pretty thick white head. Looks nice. Nose is light and refreshing tart fruitiness, green apples and esters all over the nose. Finishes clean and dry with an almost cherrylike character among the sweet malts.

Average copper color with an interesting apricot flavor. There was a malty tang evident in the aftertaste after it was all said and done.

So tasty! Pretty light compared to the other MH brews, but the apricot flavor just makes the beer so enjoyable, any time of the day.

Draught, at Tabla, Madison Square, Manhattan.
Rich golden colour with a smooth fine creamy beige head. Lovely drink with my good buddy Funk. Crisp, refreshing, fruity flavour is smooth and inviting. Apricot and vanilla in equal measures. Could have easily drunk several more of these. Palate is silky and smooth.

Nice fruity hoppy aroma. Good blend of hops and apricots. Flavor starts out with some hops that leads into a fruity sweetness with some lingering bitterness.
