after4ever (1652), Brier, Washington, USA Aug 10, 2007 12-ounce. Thanks, 46er3498! Pours deep opaque black with a thick moussy tan head that falls to a slim rim pretty quickly. Decent sheets of lace left after the fall. Big beautiful chocolatey nose, really smells delicious. Nice medium-bodied attack with an unfortunate over-fizzy aspect. Mid-palate’s kind of a mess, alas. Burnt licorice (?), sweet ferric tang, some chocolate and roast. Not sure what happened here, but a very promising start goes sideways as soon as it hits the tongue. BREWMUSKCLES (732), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Apr 23, 2007 OLD MUTT BREW. DRY AND DIRTY SWEET TASTING. OATMEAL STOUDT AND COFFEE GROUNDS. THIN YET SUSTANTIVE. I WANTED TO HAVE IT NAMED MINDNUMBER SOMETHING OR OTHER. THE AROMA IS ....DIRTY BEER, YET IT IS STRANGELY GOOD! TIGHT CARBONATION AND THAT BITTER TIP OF THE TONGUE TWINGE OF HOPS. LICORICE AND DATES OR FIGS. BUT LAID BACK IN THERE. GOOD, GOOD PORTER. THIS MUST BE AUTHENTIC. sinkr (121), Lusby, Maryland, USA Feb 5, 2007 Typical head, not an overwhelming aroma to it. Has a very coffee-ish taste that remains on the palette for several minutes after the last sip. This beer is dry, not overly-sweet and has a good flavor for a porter. Hazmatt (347), Virginia, USA Dec 4, 2006 Updated: Apr 4, 2007Bottle. Dark brown with average tan head. Some lacing. Roasted malt aroma, chocolate. Flavorful and fairly full bodied with some dryness. Chocolate, almost stouty flavor. Good. OhioDad (2492), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Nov 16, 2006 12oz bottle via trade with 46er3498 - Thanks Tom! - Pours dark brown with a enormous tan head that stays pretty well and laces some. Aromas of roasted malts, light chocolate, and some light pine. Flavor begins with the usual porter flavors chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, caramel, but then gives way to some pine and even light citrus hops on the finish.. Medium body with a fair amount of carbonation and a light mouthfeel. Not a bad porter really
