3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Immy (1948) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - OCT 3, 2006
12 oz bottle from Trooper11. Clear amber with a big foamy white head. Excellent thick lacing. Citrusy grapefruit nose, touches of pine. Flavor was nicely hoppy - citrus mostly, a bit of pine and grass. Caramel notes. Decent bitter citrus finish. Finally, a decent Hat!

Lucky me, my mystery beer is an IIPA, my fav. Pours cloudy amber with huge foamy white head that sticks around a bit and leave some heavy lacing. Ahh, fresh hops aroma, fresh grapefruit. Heavy bodied very heavy bitter and thick hops attacks your taste buds. Good good good.

12 oz. bottle . Clear amber/copper with a decent off white head. Hop dominated aroma of pine, some citrus. Medium body, average carbonation. Bitterness is the major presence, and although there is some caramel sweetness in the background, it’s really overshadowed. There isn’t much hop flavor either. IMO, this was just not well balanced. An astringent, metallic bitter finish that was quite lengthy was just too muc. I thought it was pretty easy to peg as an IPA or imperial IPA, but it just isn’t very pleasant, and I like bitter beers.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 eaglefan538 (2735) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - SEP 24, 2006
Not a bad beer, but within style it was pretty weak. The appearance was copper colored with a pretty weak head and lacing for a dIPA. The aroma was hoppy, some citrus and pine. Flavor was pretty comparable with some caramel, even a little toffee, and a little light/thin, more like an IPA than a dIPA. Mouthfeel was more like an IPA also, partly watered.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 michaeltrego (101) - Amherst, New Hampshire, USA - SEP 16, 2006
Tasting this one blind -- I wouldn’t have pegged it as an Imperial IPA -- it has a big hop punch, but for some reason I sense a smokiness to it and that throws it off. Perhaps it is also the type of hops (unsure which). In any case, after a few tastes it does satisfy. Nice medium body with a golden appearance and floral aroma.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 wilkie (1209) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - SEP 16, 2006
Bottle as "Mystery Beer." Pours nice golden color with lots of retention and good lacing. Aroma is very mild for an I2PA. Hops and malt are there, but not in great quantities. Flavor is very good, and hops come out there, but it doesn’t seem to have the backbone I expected. I love this brewery and all, so I don’t want to say too many negative things, but I am slightly (not totally) disappointed with this beer.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 VTHopHead (1387) - Barre, Vermont, USA - SEP 16, 2006
Bottle - Poured a hazy dark orangish amber in color with a thickish white head that stuck around. Aroma is of citrusy hopiness with a faint hint of maltiness. Flavor is nicely balanced between hop bitterness, which is considerable, and the underlying amount of fruity malt. Quite hoppy (Yes!) with strong citrus and piney hops. . Finish is quite bitter and long. Quite tasty... they can start making this full-time as far as I am concerned!
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 BitchesBrew (713) - Oakland, California, USA - SEP 12, 2006
[bottle] Pours a bright amber color, slightly hazy. Aroma is hoppy, with some solid citrus notes. Flavors are nice, very dry, with plenty of citrusy hops. Medium to light bodied malts. A pretty decent IIPA.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - SEP 10, 2006
Poured a hazy amber color with a medium sized white head. Hoppy aroma that was citrusy and fruity. Sweet fruity malt underneath. Fruity malt flavor with a hop bitterness from the very start. Finish is long and dry.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Cletus (6064) - Connecticut, USA - SEP 5, 2006
Sampled at the brewery and a growler sample. Pours yellowish with a nice white head. Smells citrussy with some nice floral hops. Taste is malty with a nice string hop presence. I hope this one makes it out as a general release.
