Sampled at the brewery and a growler sample. Pours yellowish with a nice white head. Smells citrussy with some nice floral hops. Taste is malty with a nice string hop presence. I hope this one makes it out as a general release.

Lucky me, my mystery beer is an IIPA, my fav. Pours cloudy amber with huge foamy white head that sticks around a bit and leave some heavy lacing. Ahh, fresh hops aroma, fresh grapefruit. Heavy bodied very heavy bitter and thick hops attacks your taste buds. Good good good.

The label is nothing great, but the beer looks okay. There is a small head that laces the glass, and a rich, sweet, fruity flavor. This was called the Summer Mystery Beer, and it is a full-bodied, strong-flavored ale. The taste is roasted grains, malt, and a little lemon and grapefruit. The hops are robust, especially in the finish. There was just a hint of skunk - the bottle might have been past its freshness date. This reminded me of some of the Lagunitas ales I have tried. It also made me wonder about the differences between IIPAs and APAs, since this seemed like it could be either. This is one of The Hat’s more powerful and interesting creations - I plan to try as many of their beers as I can find.

On tap at Hop Devil. Pours cloudy orange with a durable white head. Aroma is orange peel and spicy hops. Starts off dry and hoppy and becomes a bit sweeter and the peach really comes through in the finish. Finally a Magic Hat beer worth drinking.

12 oz. bottle, from slob - thanks for this goodie! Pours hazy orangey amber with a large creamy head. Lightly sweet aroma, toasty and malty, plenty of floral and citrus hoppiness, apricot, orange juice and a bit of dust. Wow, hoppy flavor, toasty and fruity malts, herbal and dusty notes, pine and citrus with a lingering grapefruit rind finish. Full body, smooth and creamy. Quite good overall.

Burnt orange, crystal clear. Medium fluffy off-white head fades slowly. Grapefruit, sweet aroma. Very inviting. Hints at a full, fruity body and face-smashing bitterness. Does the taste follow through? Not quite, but pretty good. Medium body. Grapefruit, floral, orange. Bitter but not over the top. Smooth finish. Perty good, I was pleasantly surprised to find 3 of these in the "Night of the living dead variety 12-pack".

Sampled as "THE Summer Mystery Beer" from a Summer Variety Show ’07 12er. Belgian nose of yeast & wheat, pepper & spice, flowers & alcohol. Pours a cloudy mahogany. The rich cascade resolves into a mostly lasting frothy/rocky head that leaves good lace. Very nice flavor, agian Belgian tendencies. Spicy with a slight alcohol bleed in the middle. Nice floral finish with dried fruit accent. The full soft palate is dry with a dry feel to the finish. How this brew was entered as an alternate name for an ImperialDouble IPA is a mystery to me, b/c this brew displays zero characteristics of an Imperial IPA IMHO.

A treat from Poperinge. Nice white head and lacing over a gold liquid. Interesting aroma of sweet grapefruit and something close to bubble gum. Sweet up front and then a sugary hop middle. Finish is delicious, a long sweet and sour grapefruit. Very nice. A shame I only have a small bottle.

Large light tan head with an attractive coating lace that lasts. Hazy orange hued brew. Funky, perfumy nose, kinda piney, some spice. Body is medium, lightly resiny with a prickly carbonation. Solid, piney hop flavors, medium sweet caramel malts, lightly resiny hops, spicey and fruity. Big bitter finish, fruity and hoppy. Surprisingly big and flavorful for a MH brew! As EDA said, Finally, a Magic Hat beer worth drinking!
