magic hat surprised me twice in one night, Americas attempt at a belgian style ale. Not a terrible attempt... but can’t compare to true belgian ales. Tastes like a light double. Still has that signature MH taste somewhere in there but has some complexity which I will vouch for. Not bad. Of course not the best but not bad by any stretch.

This was a belgian dubbel, weird. Aroma has some sweetness mellow spice. Flavor is sweet and light with a little bread and butter.

Got this in a mixed up 12 pack from my brother a couple of years ago during Halloween time but didn’t take good notes.

Pours copper with a thin white head. Smells sugary with some hints of rosiness. Tastes sweet and caramelly with some brown sugar and honey on the finish.

Draft at the brewery. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Wheres the fruit, lots of malt, lightly sour and tart but not in a good way. A bit of alcohol and some hop character. Eh.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 machfive55 (337) - Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 25, 2008
I wasn’t all that impressed with this beer. It was really tough to drink for a dubbel and I really like belgian beers in general. There is just something slightly off with this, so maybe I got unlucky and got a bad bottle. I thought it was more on the malty side and there were less fruity notes than I would expect with a dubbel. I big beer for sure, and mostly undrinkable.

Light brown pour. Pretty aromatic, good amount of carbonation. A little bit of sweetness, toffee, fruit, apple that blends well with the toffee. It don’t remember it calling out the abv, would never have guessed 7.5. Not bad, more of a dark beer fan.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20 nick76 (3598) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JUN 26, 2008
The aroma is rather weak for the style. But it does have toffee, caramel, yeast, grains, and fruit. The appearance is deep amber with haze but no head to speak of. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thick. Overall it’s really enjoyable.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 wcampbell (721) - Clemson, South Carolina, USA - FEB 28, 2008
Definitely the best beer of the variety pack. Nice, fruity flavor, with some piney hops. Medium to full bodied. Completely hidden alcohol. Lightly bitter finish.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Palidor19 (2392) - Brandon, Florida, USA - FEB 22, 2008
Solid drinking beer, its got a fantastic look and flavor of fruit, grass and some sharp pine. Mouth mouth feels sharp with high carbonation. This is quite a pleasant surprise.
