...created to aid in deciphering the puzzles along life’s road, and interpreting signs in the voyages of the spirit. Brewed in homage to the wisdom of visionaries everywhere who blaze paths into uncharted territories. Our take on an India Pale Ale (IPA.) A deep golden amber ale with a rich up-front malty nose finishing with a big, hoppy bite. Dry-hopped to finish with a big fresh (Cascade) hop flavor. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting yeast.

I'm new to drinking IPA's, but this one is quite enjoyable. The appearance is a light orange/tan and holds a thin white head. This beer has a noticeably hoppy smell with a hint of citrus. The taste was surprisingly good to me. The initial taste is a bit citrus with a bite and the after taste is appropriately bitter from the hops. This IPA is not overly bitter like some of the others I have tasted. No complaints with the mouthfeel. Overall I'd give this beer a 3. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma of malty sweetness, with notes of citrus. Pours a deep amber with one-lasting whit head and a little lacing. The taste is malty up front and balanced in the finish with a nice burst of hops. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, nice balance of malts and hops.

Pours deep copper-red, one-finger head at pour that laces the glass nicely. Aroma is faint, a hint of hops, mostly sweeter and more malty. Taste is similar, seems to have more in the way of malts than piney hops. That said, it’s well-balanced, and definitely the best of any of the Magic Hat offerings I’ve tried so far.

This is not an IPA. Very little hop character, more malt and sweetness than anything. Not bad, but don't call it an IPA.

A pretty decent pale ale. Well rounded with a sweet nose, sugary body, and a hoppy finish. Sweet finish with a little yeast.

Good refreshing brew, but not super hoppy. Not that I’m complaining- but definitely not a super hoppy IPA which is rather nice considering the trend is to over-hop them all lately. Sweet amber wheat cereal notes up front and balanced with resinous, sticky hop flavor. Nice body.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 4/14/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, light pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity citrus/earthy hops, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, light pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of herbal/piney bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon/orange zest, pear, apple, light pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, balance, and robustness of citrus/earthy hops, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very good English IPA style. All around good complexity robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Pours a dark amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, mostly of caramel malts. Just a hint of floral hops. Flavor is mostly just sweet from the caramel malts. Nor much hop flavor at all. Not good.

Bottle pour. Cloudy dark amber orange with a small tan head. Aroma is toasted cereal and roasted malts. Medium body. Initial bitter taste with a slight sweet aftertaste.

12 oz bottle from the four type sampler case. Weak on hops and flavor, somewhat mediocre. I think I was disappointed.

DATE TASTED: June 4, 2015... GLASSWARE: Brew at the Zoo pint... OCCASION: Cavs/Warriors Game One--let the madness begin!... APPEARANCE: dark, orange amber body that shows slow , sporadic effervescence; soft, creamy white head settles to a thin, palpable lacing... AROMA: robust Cascade meets the nostrils; caramel and toasted cereal stand up and belie the IPA indication....PALATE: medium-bodied, creamy, and slightly fizzy; bitterness late but not offensive nor impressive... TASTE: mellow, slightly hoppy, significantly malty--deep caramel and cereal punches an impression in the tastebuds with pleasant sweetness; the odd finish--a Magic Hat staple--is found in the hops attempting to climb into the wisdom teeth; a smooth balance is struck... OVERALL: a mildly entertaining, slightly less offbeat take on a standard than I am used to from Magic Hat; the malt is a welcome push on the flavor; the Cascade is diminished to the point one wonders, "Is this an IPA?"
