...created to aid in deciphering the puzzles along lifeís road, and interpreting signs in the voyages of the spirit. Brewed in homage to the wisdom of visionaries everywhere who blaze paths into uncharted territories. Our take on an India Pale Ale (IPA.) A deep golden amber ale with a rich up-front malty nose finishing with a big, hoppy bite. Dry-hopped to finish with a big fresh (Cascade) hop flavor. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting yeast.

Bottle. The pour was a cloudy copper orange with a large (2-3 finger) white frothy head that was mostly lasting, receding down to a large cap with fair streaky lacing. The aroma was of a light sweet bread malt, grassy hops and a soapy yeast with notes of caramel, honey, citrus (orange) and maybe a touch of dried fruit (figs). The taste was lightly malty sweet with a mild hint of caramel early on, becoming a bit hoppy with a light citrus note and a slight bitter finish. The flavor lasted an average amount of time after the swallow leaving behind a light smooth bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel was just a hair above light in body with a watery dry texture and a medium carbonation. Overall a pretty basic IPA, although it possessed a good drinkability it did not have any outstanding qualities...

Our take on an IPA - that shoulda warned me off, but no. Co had to know. Apparently their take is boring and malty. Hops underused in this boring arse beer.

Aroma of malty sweetness, with notes of citrus. Pours a deep amber with one-lasting whit head and a little lacing. The taste is malty up front and balanced in the finish with a nice burst of hops. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, nice balance of malts and hops.

Pours deep copper-red, one-finger head at pour that laces the glass nicely. Aroma is faint, a hint of hops, mostly sweeter and more malty. Taste is similar, seems to have more in the way of malts than piney hops. That said, itís well-balanced, and definitely the best of any of the Magic Hat offerings Iíve tried so far.

This is not an IPA. Very little hop character, more malt and sweetness than anything. Not bad, but don't call it an IPA.

A pretty decent pale ale. Well rounded with a sweet nose, sugary body, and a hoppy finish. Sweet finish with a little yeast.

Good refreshing brew, but not super hoppy. Not that Iím complaining- but definitely not a super hoppy IPA which is rather nice considering the trend is to over-hop them all lately. Sweet amber wheat cereal notes up front and balanced with resinous, sticky hop flavor. Nice body.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 4/14/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, light pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity citrus/earthy hops, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, light pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of herbal/piney bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon/orange zest, pear, apple, light pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, balance, and robustness of citrus/earthy hops, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very good English IPA style. All around good complexity robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Pours a dark amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, mostly of caramel malts. Just a hint of floral hops. Flavor is mostly just sweet from the caramel malts. Nor much hop flavor at all. Not good.

Bottle pour. Cloudy dark amber orange with a small tan head. Aroma is toasted cereal and roasted malts. Medium body. Initial bitter taste with a slight sweet aftertaste.

12 oz bottle from the four type sampler case. Weak on hops and flavor, somewhat mediocre. I think I was disappointed.
