For a hybrid I think they hit the mark with this one. I would have liked to see a bit more meade like ABV however, the blend was pleasing to the palate although it took me a few sips to decide if this one would be good or not. I loved the golden meadish color and the quick disipation of head was expected. The bottle looks great next my chaotic chemistry and I'm sure the Thumbsucker will fit well with its brethren.

Cloudy orange pour with a mild aroma of honey. An earth taste that finishes with amedium bodies dry honey taste. It was ok.

On draft at Union Jacks Pub in Glenside. Pours a light copper amber with a small white head. Aroma of light spice, honey sickle and hops. Taste is much the same as the aroma.

Draft at Blind Tiger. Poured a clear medium orange color. The head was two fingers high and white. Smelled of apple and honey touched cereal grain. The nose reminded me of a poorly made lager. Light to medium bodied and slightly sweet. Tasted of subdued sweet cream, corn, and honey. Almost cream ale-ish. Eh.

Tap at the Blind Tiger. Very cloudy pour with a surprising head. Grainy, honey and alcohol aroma is expected. Not much complexity. The flavor, man, I can’t take it at all, the sweetness totally kills me. I’m coming to realize I absolutely detest the braggot style.

Tap @ BT. Strange. Figured this one would stick around. Almost no aroma. Taste is fizzy and watery with a touch of honey.

On Tap at the Blind Tiger in NYC. Had no clue this was a mead/beer when I ordered it. Just knew I’d never heard of it before. Poured a bit of a cloudy yellow orange color with a thin white head. Aroma was honey and malt, a bit of vanilla and oakiness. Flavor was on the sweet side with a bit of herbal character. Pretty mild overall though.

Draft at EBF. Pours a golden body with a thin white head. Lots of honey and apple up front, light vinous character dry with a thin oak body. Decent.

EBF NOTB 08. Pours a hazy deep golden- almost coppery with a fizzy white head. Aroma is very appley pie like- with some green apple skin- diacetaldehyde character with some vanillafromt he wood and oak- also a bit tart and malo- like white wine light sweetness with some floral honey components. Flavor is a bit doughy and yeasty, tart, more apple skin and apple wine- sweet flavros some residual honey, grassy, and a slick sweetness- some fruitness as it warms like pear and more apple.

NOTB; it was aged in chardonnay barrels. If that requires a new entry, than I’ll move this. This beer you could really detect the chardonnay aging. Aroma was generally earthy with apples, fruit and white whwine. Flavor had the same characteristics. Good stuff.

Sampled at the source, chardonnay barrels very evident. A very beer-ish meade or meade-ish beer. Unique style, but very good. The type of honey seems to be interpreted differently by individual palates.
