Really though, this was a very disappointing hefeweizen. It was very mild and had very little flavor. I know I have turned into a beer snob, but it was almost a drain pour for me since I knew I had some Lost Abbey in the fridge. wheelz843 (205), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 29, 2008 Hmmm.... the bottle says hefeweizen, but it’s not. Has the appearance of a hefe, but doesn’t taste like one. Confusing beer all around. Avoid if possible. mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Sep 28, 2008 Magic Hat Circus Boy is an unclear orange color with a medium beige head. The aroma is full of citrus and lemon flavors and the finish is very creamy due to a wheat base. Underhook (162), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Sep 28, 2008 Hefeweizen? Are you sure, Magic Hat? Pours clear yellow, no floral scent whatsoever, just that of mellow hops and some malt. Tastes nothing like a true german hefe, and not all that good on its own. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 25, 2008 Cloudy yellow color with no head. Very distinct lemon flavor with a hint of lime. Not an outstanding beer, but kind of refreshing. jleblanc (4), , Massachusetts, USA does not count | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 23, 2008 golden hay color with little haziness. no visible yeasties or floaties, contrary to the other reviews. medium head with sub-par retention. very subtle non de-script nose, i could really only pull out orange pith, wet cat, and lemon citrus notes. light to medium mouthfeel with medium carbonation.
a faint sweetness comes through on the front pallet, reminiscent of a light american lager corn and rice malt sweetness. grainy sweetness on the mid to back palate, hops are in the picture but not doing much justice. citrus and orange notes subside and give way sour finish. hard hefe to pin down, far from german style and not really representing the american style. sub par overall. I’d classify it as a light wheat beer.
