Commercial Description:
Editor's note: Yes, the bottle calls it a hefeweizen. The beer, however, is brewed with a (fairly hefty) portion of lemongrass, which contributes a significant aroma and flavor. Thus we have deemed it a Spice/herb/vegetable and not a German Hefeweizen, which should be free from adjuncts (other than hops).

Wow. Interesting that this is labled a spice/herb/veggie beer. If the brewer intended this to be a hefe he missed badly. I don’t think any hefe I’ve had comes close to being this bad. Cloudy yellow. No spice in the aroma. The flavor has maybe a tiny estery type hint. Wow. Just wow in the worst way.

Cloudy, light golden color with a diminished white head. Light wheat, lemon-lime soda and some oil soap scents. VERY light wheat start. Middle has a bit of pure lemon and lime zest. Seems derived verses brewed. Dry seltzer finish. Notes of white pepper in the finish. Quenching in a tonic water way.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep yellow/straw with a slight haze a very large, fluffy white head that fades quickly. The aroma is quite wheaty with a touch of caramel malt, some spice (noble hops), and a subtle lemony note (almost like a cool, though not minty, lemon zest) which must be from the use of lemongrass. The flavor starts wheaty and quite malty with a delicate touch of flowers (from the combo of noble hops and lemon zest I assume). At mid-tongue, there is a crisp bitterness - though not too firm (it is a wheat beer after all) - that is floral but at the same time almost soapy (maybe it’s just me - perhaps I use too much lemon-scented soap). The finish is dry and refreshing with a subtle hop/lemon flavor and subtle flavors of fresh-baked bread. The mouthfeel is lavishly carbonated and crisp; the body is medium (a little thin perhaps). Overall, a tasty and delicious twist on a hefeweizen. It isn’t quite like an authentic hefeweizen (missing a lot of the characteristic weizen yeast esters and phenols) but is made interesting by the use of lemongrass.

Good but not great. Your standard Hefe with Magic Hat’s messing about evident in the flavor. It’s no #9, but refreshing nonetheless.

Seemed like a Hefe to me. Not as impressive as other Magic Hats, but is somewhat refreshing.

Bottle. Pours a straw-gold, with a thin white head with large bubbles. Aroma of lemon grass, yeast, and a hint of peanut. The flavor is a citrusy wheat, with a yeast tang, and the definite presence of lemongrass. Some banana flavor is also noticeable. Not bad; interesting and refreshing, though not something I’d be compelled to buy en masse.

Clear but deepish yellow pour below a white head. Citrus and hops in the aroma. Bland citrus flavor with some spices coming though. Bitter finish.

This is a light amber in color. Aroma is weak spice. Taste is a mild citrus/yeast combination. Somewhat carbinated.
