beernbourbon (236), chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 22, 2009 Bottle. Pour is cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma is light banana, light spiciness, grass, and light lemon. Flavor is good up front; light spice, bubblegum, and banana. Then, there is that Magic Hat finish. It has been there in every beer I have tried from Magic hat, and it’s always disappointing. The finish is large yeast and old bread. Offensive and a bit chemically too. I just need to avoid this brewery, but Ill probably try it again later anyway. corby112 (679), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 20, 2009 Pours a cloudy dark golden yellow color with ripe banana notes and a thin fizzy white head that quickly fades into a very thin ring. Nothing in the way of lacing.
Citrus spicy aroma with hints of orange and lemon peel as well as some peppery lemon zest, biscuit malt and subtle hops.
Flavor is pretty bland and again has hints of lemon zest, citrus lemon peel, pepper, biscuit subtle hops and a sweet dry finish. This beer was mediocre in every aspect and I would avoid it in the future.
Bejaaamin (110), London, Ontario, Canada Oct 17, 2009 Props again to Farmer. Hazy golden colour. Stank to high heaven of wheat and lemongrass, notes of citrus and funky yeastiness. Taste is weak in comparison. Fair for summer. overall appreciated the nose more than anything else. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Oct 17, 2009 Bottle sample at the Magic Hat tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 10/15/09. Pours cloudy gold with a thin white head. Sweet and grainy malt aroma with some yeast. Yeasty and malty flavor that finishes watery. patrickfannon (274), Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 10, 2009 Bottle. 12 oz. Pours hazy light orange with a moderate, off-white head. Aroma of spice, wheat, barley, citrus, and hops. Mild body with a clean finish. Average. FarFromHome (82), Philadelphia, Alabama, USA Oct 4, 2009 I usually don’t like beers that pour with that milky lemonade appearance. The soapscum head didn’t help any. But the flavor - lemons, oranges, some sort of herbal overtonbes, definitely a tasty summer brew. RollinHard (750), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Oct 2, 2009 Pours a hazy burnt orange with a fluffy white head that lasts pretty long. Aroma is pretty unassuming with bread, sweet dough, hay, citrus, sweet lemon, grains of paradise. The smell is just different enough from American wheat beers. Tastes of bread, dough, orange, and light grainy spice. Finishes with a slight citrus tang (lemongrass?), caramel and hay. Medium to light bodied, but chewier than normal and the carbonation is prickly rather than soft. It’s okay. cwondo (21), Rochester, Michigan, USA Sep 30, 2009 Bottle. I haven’t ever tried too many wheat beers, but this is definitely the least flavorful I have ever tried. Some wheat and lemongrass, but I got an aftertaste of Sweet-n-low or Splenda. A vague aroma of orange juice, but bland. The best thing about this beer was how it looked - clear golden straw color with a ton of bubbles and a white, gloppy head. Unfortunately the head disappeared after a moment, but there was nice lacing. Not something I would ever order at a bar, but I got it in a variety pack so they will be consumed
