Glouglouburp (2782), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Sep 21, 2007 Updated: Nov 23, 2007Cloudy dark yellow body with a small white ring of foam. Aroma of banana and wet hay. Oily mixture of cereals, bananas, doughy yeast, white bread, citrus. Hops are almost unnoticeable. Light but weird spiciness. Expected tartness is cruelly missing. The beer is somewhat tasty but with that type of flavour spectrum you expect something refreshing and this is not the case. Don’t quit your day-job circus boy. phllybeer29 (20), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 20, 2007 Bottle. This wasn’t one of the better hefeweizen’s i have tried. Defintely too spicy for my taste. Ritterkreuz (179), Seneca Falls, New York, USA Sep 16, 2007 The first thing to hit me was the that the smell, though lemony, was very weak. Pours a cloudy, hazy gold. A bit on the watery side, there is definately lemon in the flavor, with an odd after taste. wcampbell (572), Central, South Carolina, USA Sep 15, 2007 Decent beer, tastes just like a pretty typical hefeweizen to me. Maybe a little more lemon than usual. Some yeastiness to the flavor. Light bodied and a little watery, but very refreshing. emobassfoo (178), Webster, New York, USA Sep 15, 2007 Rated while drinking: Pours an ultra hazy gold color with a fluffy white head and decent lacing. Unfiltered indeed. Lemongrass in the nose. Some faint yeast-like characteristics, but mainly that Thai herb. Taste is more lemongrass. Definitely can’t be an American or a German hefeweizen. Lack of banana/clove elements. Despite that though, this must be a fresher bottle because my memory of this beer was pretty poor. The lemongrass makes for an interesting combination. Aftertaste is a little odd... but different. Palate has quite a bit of carbonation in there, but quite drinkable. Bitterness near the end. A different type of beer so to say. Nothing really that spectacular, but like so many of the Magic Hat beers promise; it’s definitely ’different’. QuentinKyle (1), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Sep 14, 2007 12oz. bottle, 9/13/7. Pleasant hops/malt balance in aroma - more promise in aroma than delivered in mouthfeel & flavor. Medium sourness, which started well, esp. with lively carbonation. Bitter finish, though, which didn’t seem to fit this beer. I bought a six pack in order to get a free tulip glass from a rep that was pouring at the distributor, so a relatively even trade. mtoast (290), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 12, 2007 On tap, 9/9/07. Pours a very cloudy yellow with stark white foam, little bit of lacing. Aroma shows signs of yeast bite, little bit of malt in there too. Flavor starts off soft and builds to more of a strange yeast bite. Reminds me of a lot of recent beers that have a strange flavor resulting from 1056-ish yeasts, either I’m losing my mind or this yeast just doesn’t jive with me. WeeHeavySD (2941), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Sep 11, 2007 12oz bottle I had @ the Dream Away lodge in The berkshires. Pours golden with a bubbly bright white head. Nose has some wheaty characteristics. Taste is sweet, refined and pretty damn tasty. I’m going to have to differ with a lot of the recent raters, I thought it was pretty damn good.
