Drew (2406), Kent, Ohio, USA May 18, 2007 Lot’s of citrus zing here - is it the lemongrass? It seems to have more acidity than most heffes. Oh, I see we’re calling it a spice/herb brew - I can agree with that. Light golden and hazy, nice foamy head. Body is mostly smooth, a little carbonation. Refreshing and a nice summer drink pet3rman (206), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 17, 2007 Updated: Sep 13, 2007Nothing stands out.. Fairly balanced, spicy Wheat beer type. Tough to classify. jredmond (1015), New Jersey, USA May 16, 2007 Tap at PJW. The beer poured a light cloudy yellow. It had a nice aroma...maybe some hops. The taste is slightly bitter with some hops...def unlike other german hefes -explaining the descriptive choice "spice/herb/vegie". This beer was nice. rocbyter (902), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA May 14, 2007 Very spicy aroma not in a good way. Cloudy orange color. Slightly bitter taste with light malts and yeast. Palate is a little sticky. hopson (591), Williamsville, New York, USA May 8, 2007 bottle- enjoyed this beer while grilling. That is pretty much what I can say about it. Can be pretty refreshing, light, orange peel/correander thing going on. Aroma is terrible, smells like feet and lysol. Derek881 (486), Frederick, Maryland, USA May 7, 2007 Purchased on draft in a neighborhood bar on the outskirts of Pittsburgh. The aroma was wheaty, yeasty, but also with some fruity undertones, including the desired lemon effect. Appearance was a cloudy, dark gold to light amber color, with a medium-sized white head. Texture was thinner than expected, a touch oily and wheaty, with mild carbonation. Taste was also wheaty, somewhat sweet, and largely sour. A decent beer, but not very exciting. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada May 3, 2007 Cloudy orangey colour with minimal head. Aroma is lemon grass and wheat. Flavour has tons of lemon grass which upsets the wheaty flavour. kimcgolf (822), Dacula, Georgia, USA May 3, 2007 I was looking forward to rating my first Magic hat, but I have to admit that Circus Boy is closer to Circus Piss than it is to good beer, and a sorry excuse for a Hefeweizen.
Pours to a hazy orange-red with a thin off-white head that dissipated quickly and left little lacing. Aroma was a sour apple-citrus fruit-malty sweet combination that was not real impressive, and the mouthfeel was flat. Taste was another combination of sweet fruit and a little hops, but no spices like you expect.
This all led to a finsih that was short and stale. I hope the remainer of my Magic Hat slections I have are better than this. They almost have to be.
