| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 3, 2007 I was looking forward to rating my first Magic hat, but I have to admit that Circus Boy is closer to Circus Piss than it is to good beer, and a sorry excuse for a Hefeweizen.
Pours to a hazy orange-red with a thin off-white head that dissipated quickly and left little lacing. Aroma was a sour apple-citrus fruit-malty sweet combination that was not real impressive, and the mouthfeel was flat. Taste was another combination of sweet fruit and a little hops, but no spices like you expect.
This all led to a finsih that was short and stale. I hope the remainer of my Magic Hat slections I have are better than this. They almost have to be. tagz (334), USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 2, 2007 Updated: Oct 10, 2007cloudy gold/orange with small white head. slight citrus yeast aroma. taste is wheat, mild bitter hop, some spice. mod/high carbonation is the main detractor. its an decent mild wheat with some light pale ale qualities. not their best (and definitely not a hefe) but a decent session beer that i wouldn’t turn down. Texture: light, with a touch of oiliness. Carbonation: average. Flavors: sweet n’ sour, with a distinct saltiness. Finish: short n’ sweet. Overall: better than fair, but not quite good. calvinist (32), Asheville, North Carolina, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Apr 29, 2007 decent Hef. at best. I’ve had it with and without lemon. I prefer it with a wedge of lemon just to make it a little more palatable. I found that it really needs to be ICE ICE Cold to enjoy it the most. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Apr 28, 2007 Slightly skunky banana/citrus aroma, and flavor. Some sort of a light hint of spice in the finish, but basically just bland. Pretty much what I’ve come to expect from this brewery. doubelknv3 (566), Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 26, 2007 Lite citrus, grainy, earthy, wheat aroma. Cloudy golden-white with lasting head. Mild wheat, citrus, grains, and mildly sweet malt flavour. Smooth with mild bitter finish. Rvrndmaynard (47), Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 25, 2007 On tap at Mile Square in Hoboken. The taste of the lemongrass is good, and it really makes for a nice american hef. Crisp and refreshing, which in my mind is exactly what you want from a hef.
