drfabulous (1212), Columbia, Missouri, USA Apr 21, 2007 The old Sam Adams trick: give your beer different names, pretend they are different styles, but it’s basically the same. Hardly a Hefe. Tastes like a pale ale. Nothing special. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA Apr 20, 2007 Good job at creating a hefe that produces no head. Yes I bought this in a 12-pack- spring, best by 7-07. All the beers in this 12 have been below average but to call this a hefe is a stretch. Whatever citrus aroma their is, is from the lemongrass they add during the brewing process. Whatever- the lack of head during pouring of this beer limits this to nothing more than a macro version of this style. Just one-of -four styles in this box-set that were a poor representation of said style. Boliv (188), New York, USA Apr 20, 2007 Growler. Golden and cloudy pour with a nice white head. Hints of fresh-cut grass, wheat, lemon; very summery. Nice flavor, very easy to drink, very refreshing. bbp182 (255), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 16, 2007 I love this beer and this brewery. Tied as my favorite between Dogfish Head and Magic Hat. Unfiltered Hefeweizen. I loved it. And still love it. ehhdayton (1113), USA Apr 16, 2007 Pours a hazy golden with a small whtie head. The aroma has some spice, lemon and wheat. Flavor is light with wheat and lemon. JasonG (700), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Apr 15, 2007 12 oz bottle: Pours a rather hazy medium yellow color with smallish pure white head. Aroma is fairly fruity, notes of red grape, honey, figs, fair amount of lactic acid, red wine vinegar. Flavor is malty, spicey, with black pepper, lemongrass, touch of apricot, honey, and a bit of lactic sourness. Finish is slightly sour, balanced. An interesting brew, I like it more than the group seems to, but definitely a departure from the standard either european or american wheat beer. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Apr 14, 2007 12 oz. bottle pours a a cloudy gold and yields a spare white head. Some yeast in the aroma, but the esters typical of a whet beer are lacking, and only some mild citrus comes tjhrough. Effervescent, light in body, with a pretty dry and clean palate. This has a rather uninspired taste, a light honey sweetness coupled with a lemon zest bitterness that is lacking in appeal. sstackho (249), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 12, 2007 12oz bottle. Pours light and beautifully cloudy, with different swirls of colour when looked at closely. Aroma is sorely lacking. Taste is rather mediocre and doesn’t have the qualities that I look forward to from a wheat beer. There aren’t too many distinguishable characteristics in this one.
