| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 24, 2007 From a twelve ounce bottle purchased at "Keller’s IGA" in Cincinnati, Ohio - This one poured a hazy golden brew with a bananas-and-lemons (!) aroma (as opposed to the usual bananas-and-cloves hefe smell) and a thin white head. Tastewise, it was "wheat sweet" with a very lemony finish, but somewhat lacking in body. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 23, 2007 I felt a bit silly, yet I poured this 12 oz bottle into my 1/2 liter Weizen glass to find a light hazed, golden/orange body with happy streams of carbonation kicking around a few tiny chunks of yeast under an unimpressive white head. (This is "unfiltered"... seriously? Not even, like, once?) Aroma is dry and lemony with that lemongrass making a big first impression. It’s actually quite pleasant and relaxing... aromatherapeutic, if you will. Smooth and dry. The flavor does not have as much impact as the nose, with a watery, tart wheatiness before lingering lemons.
I was SO looking forward to this beer due to its f’d up name, and I’m happy to have tried it. It’s enjoyable (in moderation) to the avid beer-drinker who might occasionally enjoy a radler or a shandy. (I’m simply happy that I now have another bizzaro bottle to add to my collection.)

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 15, 2007 An hazed golden weizen with a thin creamy white head. Aroma of rosewater and herbs,. In mouth, the lemongrass comes out a lot, rather pleasant, reminiscent of Vietnamese grilled pork. Some light hopping gives this beer a longer mouthfeel. Overall, a bit too thin, but pleasant reinterpretation of the genre by MH. Bottle from CJs, Potsdam, Early winter 2006. Jmichael (633), Asheville, North Carolina, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 13, 2007 pured into tall tulip. eehh.... ok, substandard to its German originals... pours a cloudy golden yellow, smell is of light sweet wheat, some hops present. has a sweet front to finish, with mild wheat, low hop, aftertaste... a good light beer. I do not know what it is about Magic Hat, thier water, or my perception, but all thier beers have a metallic tinge to them, I think it is thier water, the only constant.... | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 8, 2007 Looks a little like a German wheat, but that’s where it ends. This has a watery lemon twang, that I really find unappealing. Some light yeasty spiciness, but nothing at all interesting. This is a weird pointless experiment that no one really needed. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Mar 6, 2007 A cold and windy March day may be the wrong day to rate MH’s Circus Boy; however, I’ve had this quite a few other times and it didn’t seem any different then. This has never been one of my favorites but is certainly serviceable. Quite thirst-quenching, but doesn’t have much beyond that. It has a lack of flavor beyond the initial reaction at the front of the tongue. Okay beer to have if you’re having more than one...on a warm summer day.
