VVilliam (50), USA Feb 3, 2007 Bottled. Pours a cloudy yellow/clear like a hefeweizen with a small head that goes away quickly. Almost no smell, but what is there is metallic with grass and citrus. Almost no taste, tasting like a cheap beer with hops after taste. Definitely not a repeat. and just something to drink with no flavor. jimhilt (1663), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Feb 2, 2007 Pours a four-fingered white head that fades quickly to a thin layer leaving some lace. Almost clear amber color, ton of yeast on bottom of bottle. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Yeasty nose. Starts sweet, some yeast, piney aftertaste. 12 oz bottle, gift from Vintage Cellars Blacksburg, VA. Best by Nov 2006. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 31, 2007 Courtesy of santoslhalper. Light sulfur and lemony aroma. No outstanding maltiness and very little hoppiness. Mostly the citrus and sulfur and a bit of peach. Hazy dull golden amber with thin off-white head. Light watery body with medium carbonation. Citrus fruit to start, with peaches and some carbonic gassiness. Grassy undertones with a bit of estery yeastiness. Light bitter finish and somewhat chalky and dry. Overall, a bit watery. crushinat0r (227), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 29, 2007 Cloudy like you’d expect from a hefenweizen. Sweet smelling, hints of citrus and some spice. Thick white long lasting head that is lacing. Taste is diluted from what I expected based on the smell, a little high on the carbonation and tastes slightly metallic. Simple taste, slightly sweet, citrus. Due to the thick head and mouth feel I had to give it high marks, but it’s no Hoegaarden! Borrrris (99), LINDENHURST, New York, USA Jan 27, 2007 BOTTLE: Pours a clear orange with little head. Clear? Wait a minute... "rouse slightly". Now pours a cloudy orange that settles out to clear again in the glass. A bit of citrus, some spice, slightly doughy, harsh carbonation, but thankfully no overpowering banana. Drinkable enough, but as another rater said; kinda weird. Just like its brewer.
BUY AGAIN? Probably not PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jan 26, 2007 Thick, hazy light orange pour - tight white head. Aroma of scuppernong grapes and some Christmas spices. Flavor has a slight spicy twang to it as well with some grape notes. Backdrop of citrus and yeast. Decently thick mouthfeel. Not bad - a little odd to say the least. Thanks to Aurelius for this one. LinusStick (1830), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 25, 2007 Odd beer at best. This sealed the fate of Magic Hat with me. Spicy...yes. Grassy..yes. Good? No. Imagine drinking Coors with grass and citrus soaking in it. There you go. MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Jan 24, 2007 Pours slightly hazy amber, with a medium, fast disappearing head. Aroma is wheat. lemongrass and perfume. Flavor is lemon, lemon rind and caramel. Astringent aftertaste. Not real good.
