Commercial Description:
Editor's note: Yes, the bottle calls it a hefeweizen. The beer, however, is brewed with a (fairly hefty) portion of lemongrass, which contributes a significant aroma and flavor. Thus we have deemed it a Spice/herb/vegetable and not a German Hefeweizen, which should be free from adjuncts (other than hops).

Sort of a strange hefeweizen. Medium bitterness. Aroma of herbs, floral, cereal, hay. Nothing really very special compared to Magic Hat’s other offerings.

As the description says, it’s not quite a hefeweizen even though it says so. It had a nice head but that fell off pretty quick. It wasn’t as cloudy as your typical hefeweizen but there was a lot of debris on the bottom of the bottle that wouldn’t come out. Overall it had a good flavor but I’ve had better.

12 oz bottle: Pours orangey light amber w/ a thin, but lasting off white head. Initial aroma is of autolyzed yeast, sort of like a big rubber eraser. Beyond the heavy yeasty aromas, there is a slight floral presence. The wheat malt character is very low. The description says they used lemongrass....I don’t get it, at least not in the aroma. The flavor is well balanced throughout, but a bit cardboardy. A bit of a dry finish, some light lemony flavors (there’s the lemongrass), stronger wheat malt flavor than in the aroma. A bit of a tartness up front, but fades into nothingness by the finish and aftertaste. Same w/ the overall flavor. It’s fairly weak and fades into itself. Wait...what’s this? A bit of an herbal hop flavor shows up late as the beer warms. Lighter body, but not watery, medium carbonation, but lightly prickly on the tongue. Overall, not a very exciting beer. We’ll call it a beginner beer! It’s also very possible the beer is past it’s prime. I got a mixed 12 pack from a co worker and I’ve got no idea how it was treated between the store and myself.

Inimpressive - a "no flavor" beer. Not bad for a light, but the family has many better. Next time - pass.....nothing distinctive

Bottle from variety pack. Magic Hat likes to play with flavors... a lot. This seems more like a ’lemon beer’ rather than a hef, with a tangy aftertaste. I generally like MH, but this was a bit sour for my palate. E for Effort tho.

Bottle. Pretty good sediment on bottom of bottle. 1st was poured 3/4 of bottle, swirled in bottled and poured remainder. Hazy color. Lemon with a hint of ...??. 2nd was poured without sediment. Slightly less flavor. Recommend slow pour into glass, with the sediment topper. Not the best Magic Hat offering..Probably will not seek again.

Bottle. Pours out a yellowish orang color with a white head. Smell is sweet and full of lemon notes. Some grass and a little bit of malts. Not a bad beer, certianly nowhere near a hefe, but its not bad for what it is. Probably best served as a good session beer. Not really impressive though.

Orangey hue. A bit cloudy. Foamy head. Fluffy-light mouthfeel. Creamy malts. Sugary cereals and grains. Hint of passion fruit. Curious background yeast. Zingy bitterness. Nice balance. Pleasant beer.
