WVHouseofBeer (337), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA May 22, 2009 Not much of an aroma, not much taste to it, just a little bit of banana. Very easy to drink, but a very bland beer. RHeastings (377), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 20, 2009 Enjoyed via 12oz bottle in a pub glass. Pours a relatively hazy medium yellow. Aromas of lemony citrus come through in the nose. However, that is about it. There are not notes of banana, clove, apple, or malt complexity. On the palate, there are some notes of pilsner and wheat malt interplay, but not to an extent that leaves the drinker wanting more. More esters come through on the back of the palate, but these are relatively restrained. Overall, another disappointing offering from Magic Hat. fluffy (229), Florida, USA May 18, 2009 bottle. aroma is severly grassy as expected. flavor is tangy with an odd earthy flavor with some citrus. there is some bitter hoppiness to it surprisingly, and sits on the palette a bit too long. id prefer a traditional hefe to this. its not doing a lot of me. zdk (180), New York, USA May 17, 2009 Bottle: Was expecting better things b/c #9 is one of my standard favorites, and I’ve seen this just as broadly.
Good, spicy aroma, but i wanted more a maltly taste and more hops too. The lemongrass overpowers and a little too metallic.
I bought a 6 pack and was drinking it all week so I got tired fairly quickly. tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA May 15, 2009 This is a lot like a hefeweizen. The aoppearance is a hazy golden color, unfiltered, foamy, white head. The aroam is spicy, clove, banana, wheat, lemon citrus. The flavor definitely shows the lemongrass. The flavor is straight up the middle hefeweizen, with the strong undercurrent of lemongrass. The finish has low bitterness, slight hoppiness, spicyness. An average effort, for a style I don’t particularly like. Bullit (1300), Glasgow, Scotland May 5, 2009 Bottle. Hazy yellow colour, white head. Indeed, this is not an hefeweizen. Aroma of wheat and lemon. Flavour has grain, lemon, grass. mrgriff420 (8), Cliffside Park, New Jersey, USA does not count May 2, 2009 The lemon/lemongrass aroma and taste can be a bit much. However, certainly not a bad beer though a heferweizen it is not. A good beer for a summer day perhaps should be brewed as a summer seasonal. Elwood (654), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Apr 28, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with a small, bubbly white head. Big lemon notes in the nose paired with some yeastiness. Medium carbonation and a light body. Lemon notes are back again with light yeast and biscuit notes. Very short finish. Light and very refreshing. A touch on the watery side, but a good beer for a hot summer day.
