Magic Hat Brewing Co. Elixirs Find... Brewery Tour Now Playing Shop Peep Show Get Social About Us Home Blog Circus Boy — THE Hefeweizen Unfiltered and unfettered, Circus Boy is a unique and refreshing American-style Hefeweizen. Is he a who? Or a what? Or perhaps some of both? Be amazed by the flavorful haze of this wonderful wheat beer.

Editor’s note: Yes, the bottle calls it a hefeweizen. The beer, however, is brewed with a (fairly hefty) portion of lemongrass, which contributes a significant aroma and flavor. Thus we have deemed it a Spice/herb/vegetable and not a German Hefeweizen, which should be free from adjuncts (other than hops).

Bottled (re-rated in 2007). Orange colour, small white head. Aroma is citrus, US hops and some slight hints of wheat. Flavour is US hops and acidic citrus fruits. The style could be something like American Hefeweizen (rather than German Hefeweizen as the bottle claims). 6 3 6 3 12

Hazy blond color. Served too cold; it has light aroma and light flavor; very light wheat character, instead there is a spicy side, peppery, and light lemon. Simple.

argo0 (10338) - Washington DC, USA - APR 23, 2006
(12oz bottle, best by end of 7/06) Hazy straw body topped by a medium pillowy white head. Aroma is medium sweet, herbal (lemongrass), lemon, some clove. Taste is medium sweet, tart lemon, some lemongrass, banana, herbal. Creamy light-medium body with some crispness. Guess I’m in the minority, but I enjoyed this one.
