Not something I was expecting from a bottle called hefeweizen. Aroma is lemon and slight wheat. Fruit flavor comes through. Somewhat of a quick finish and medium bodied beer. crazyvin (1255), New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 27, 2006 good overall. a hazy brownish-yellow body with a white head. Citrus notes and a slight peppery aroma. Taste was mild with some citrus notes. hops seemed to be floral in a spice nature. smooth but a little too watery. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 8, 2006 This is one weird beer. Strongly lemon nose. Huge white head over a pale yellow body, looks like a perfect hefe despite the nose saying grassy lemonade. Taste is one dimensional hefe ... lemon citrus beyond anything that wheat and hops should be able to produce ... no Reinheitsgebot here! Maybe a bit sweet as well. But enjolyable enough I guess with well spiced Singapore noodle. durhambeer (1245), Durham, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 15, 2009 I’ll be honest, I drank this out of the bottle, so I couldn’t get a good idea of the appearance, but it looked light hazy yellow. Lots of lemon, slight lemon grass, and a bit of orange as well as wheat notes and a tad of spice. Really light. Actually, really, really light. Bottle said 4.4%, so it served the purpose of wetting my tongue at noon on a Sunday after helping a friend move. Drinkable, sure. Good? Not really. waolsen (1224), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Apr 3, 2008 bottle. pours a light orange/straw pour. hazy with carbonation but leaves no head. funky aroma, earthy, cut grass that has been left in the mower bag for a week, lemon and a hint of hops. A earthy mess that leaves you scratching your head. Why bother putting hefeweizen on the bottle. They should have labeled it yard scraps. At least the name gives it some justice. Circus boys are lost souls who rarely shower and the only time they get laid is when one of the freaks from the tent of horrors has had too much to drink. All that said I can put this down wthout too much difficulty. Kind of like the circus. You watch but you don’t know why. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | May 7, 2006 12oz. bottle. Hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. Sour, citrusy aroma with some baby vomit in the background. Not totally vile like adult vomit, but kind of a lactic sourness you get when a baby hurls. As much as I didn’t like the aroma, at least this is the first Magic Hat beer I’ve tried that didn’t smell like butterscotch so I am thankful for that. After getting past the aroma, the flavor wasn’t all that awful. Tart lemons, grass and perhaps coriander? I am 0-4 with this brewery so far. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 18, 2006 So hard to do this with a straight face when Ernest keeps talking about urnial cakes. I’ve never smelled a urinal cake... well, there was that one time... but I don’t remember it really well... anywhoo. I’ll do my best to take this into my own, men’s-room free frame of reference. ;) Beer is a slightly hazy, light yellow-orange color with a small. frothy, white, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma is kind of pointy and challenging: Malty with moderate notes of toasted grain; Hoppy with moderate herb notes; Yeasty with a moderate note of damp basement, light note of dough, tiny notes of B vitamin/urine; Vibrant moderate notes of lemon grass. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic with an average-length, lightly sweet, lightly astringent finish. Heavy lemongrass, slight husky retros. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively. zebracakes (1219), Washington DC, USA
