Veeve (312), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Jun 14, 2008 Very drinkable. A little bit too lemony. but refreshing, semi-full mouthfeel. clovey. not the bubblegum you might expect from a hefe or the sweetness. I agree with the commercial description. the overwhelming cloves make it more of a spice/herb/veggie genre. Its good. worth a try if you are a hefe afficionado but if you only really like hefes and are in the mood for one, try something else.
maltdog (432), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 10, 2008 **Here is the beer as I rated it in my notes, thinking it was a witbier. As a hefeweizen, it is so unbelievably off base, and thus rates even lower numbers.** The cloudy, lemon yellow ale features impressively luxurious and lasting foam. Toasty aromatics barely edge out dried manure funk and rotting orchard fruits. A toasted English muffin flavor has suggestions of apple, lemon curd, and pineapple. Finishing briskly tart, the ale offers a strange mildewy aftertaste. The palate is wonderfully smooth and creamy with vigorous yet soft carbonation. There is actually a very nice wit in there, if you can see past the weird phenols. This probably would have been worlds better paired with some ripe soft cheese and a hunk of crusty ryebread. taalhiker (111), Dayton, Ohio, USA Oct 5, 2008 From bottle. Cloudy yellow color with scant head. Very strange aroma and taste. I guess it’s a combination of lime and lemon. The lemongrass description makes sense now. Pass! chicagodri (546), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 3, 2008 Pours a cloudy yellow with a thick white head. Light aroma of wheat and some lemongrass. Really though, this was a very disappointing hefeweizen. It was very mild and had very little flavor. I know I have turned into a beer snob, but it was almost a drain pour for me since I knew I had some Lost Abbey in the fridge. wheelz843 (34), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Oct 2, 2008 bottle.slight citrus aroma. light orange in color very little head. very smooth with a bit of a grassy taste. Rynoplasty (234), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Oct 1, 2008 Pours hazy lemon color with a big white head. Aroma is slightly citrusy, flavor is of light wheat malt and citrus. Fairly weak but decent.
