Haslinger (518), Syracuse, New York, USA May 5, 2008 bottle, nice cloudy color. A fruity nose with some lemon present. EAsy to drink but not that good. Probably wouldn’t buy again
JPDIPSO (4221), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Aug 30, 2008 Cloudy, light golden color with a diminished white head. Light wheat, lemon-lime soda and some oil soap scents. VERY light wheat start. Middle has a bit of pure lemon and lime zest. Seems derived verses brewed. Dry seltzer finish. Notes of white pepper in the finish. Quenching in a tonic water way. jhumphries69 (511), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Aug 29, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a deep yellow/straw with a slight haze a very large, fluffy white head that fades quickly. The aroma is quite wheaty with a touch of caramel malt, some spice (noble hops), and a subtle lemony note (almost like a cool, though not minty, lemon zest) which must be from the use of lemongrass. The flavor starts wheaty and quite malty with a delicate touch of flowers (from the combo of noble hops and lemon zest I assume). At mid-tongue, there is a crisp bitterness - though not too firm (it is a wheat beer after all) - that is floral but at the same time almost soapy (maybe it’s just me - perhaps I use too much lemon-scented soap). The finish is dry and refreshing with a subtle hop/lemon flavor and subtle flavors of fresh-baked bread. The mouthfeel is lavishly carbonated and crisp; the body is medium (a little thin perhaps). Overall, a tasty and delicious twist on a hefeweizen. It isn’t quite like an authentic hefeweizen (missing a lot of the characteristic weizen yeast esters and phenols) but is made interesting by the use of lemongrass. Nubtail (6), , Ohio, USA does not count Aug 29, 2008 Good but not great. Your standard Hefe with Magic Hat’s messing about evident in the flavor. It’s no #9, but refreshing nonetheless. badnloose (89), Springfield, Virginia, USA Aug 26, 2008 Seemed like a Hefe to me. Not as impressive as other Magic Hats, but is somewhat refreshing. TOSG55 (24), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Aug 25, 2008 Bottle. Pours a straw-gold, with a thin white head with large bubbles. Aroma of lemon grass, yeast, and a hint of peanut. The flavor is a citrusy wheat, with a yeast tang, and the definite presence of lemongrass. Some banana flavor is also noticeable. Not bad; interesting and refreshing, though not something I’d be compelled to buy en masse.
