2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours dark brow with plenty of frothy tan head. Aroma is mostly chocolate and roasted malts but not much at work here. Flavor again is a bit of chocolate and has woody sourness to it. Tastes similar to a milk stout rather than a Black IPA but whatever. Also tastes a little diluted. Pretty mediocre beer.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle (355 ml) from Systembolaget. Murky reddish brown, brief beige head. Sharp ash-tray roasted aromas with some citric hops. Light in body, fizzy carbonation. Dry with a bit harsh bitterness. Fail.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours dark brown with a small, light tan head. Aroma is dominated by roasted malt and smoke. I canít really pick out any hoppy smells. Taste is somewhat weak, at first light caramel malt sweetness but actually feels watery. Towards the finish, the bitterness starts picking up but itís more like a lager bitter than an IPA bitter. Body is light, with fairly strong carbonation. Iím wondering if somethingís wrong with my bottle because I donít really know why anyone would willingly brew an IPA to be like this...

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Pours black with a little head. Very chocolately and malty, not a lot of hops for an IPA. Meh.

It sure takes you by surprise when you read IPA and no other information on the bottle, then pour out a slightly hazy dark brown liquid. As expected, citrus hops dominate the aroma, but only bitterness can shine through the thick haze of darker beer. Not my favorite, or even worthy of approval.

IPA . . . Not so much. Twelve ounce bottle at home. This tastes like a hollow Newcastle. The hop characteristic is too subtle for an ipa, the malt is thin, flavors are too subdued and donít combine for anything greater. Definitely regret this purchase.

Bottled. A black beer with a huge dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, butter, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, butterscotch, roasted malt, and a bit of caramel, leading to a dry finish. Thanks joergen for sharing.

I usually enjoy their beers, and I especially dig their IPAs (Blind Faith was quite good), but this one is just kind of so-so. Itís supposed to be a Black IPA, but Iím honestly only picking up the faintest hint of hops in the nose and taste. Thereís almost no aroma whatsoever, really, unless you sniff the bottle right after uncapping.
This basically comes across as a kind of middle of the road, thin-bodied porter. Little bit of roastiness, not much more.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Very mild for an IPA. Almost seems more of an amber ale by taste. Malty with a hoppy finish. Not at all bitter, but rather burnt and a bit rotten.

Admittedly not my favorite style. Dark brown pour with an off-white head. Aroma is coffee and citrus hops. Watery mouthfeel and weak hop character. Not very good.
