COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rich and robust amber ale. Hiding just beyond its malty core is a crisp, clean, hoppy aura that will open your eyes to the other side.

12 ounce bottle from the fall mixed packed. Pours a clear dark amber, maple syrup like, with a medium sized frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Faint aroma of toffee and citrus. The taste is citrus hops, nutty notes a bit of toffee. Medium bodied, very slight lingering bitterness.

Trade with Aurelius - thanks! Pours a dark copper with a thin but long lasting off-white head. Aroma has a hint of spruce and some floral notes. Flavor is smooth drinking with some nutty accents, a touch of citrus bitterness and some caramel sweetness. Thick enough mouthfeel. Good session material.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of frothy finely sized light brown colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a softly carbonated transparent red brown colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was musty. The sharp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a mellow hoppy aftertaste. The semi-sharp flavor contained notes of Vienna malt mild rye plastic sweet candy crisp and hops. An OK brew just nothing special.

Color is more brown than red, the aroma has some sweet toffee. This is a pretty good amber. Not very heavy, but the right balance of sweetness, caramel and some hops. Overall, I quite like this, especially for the style.

I guess I’m on some kind of morbid roll - the last few days, we picked up a new shipment of Dia de Los Muertos brews with labels that looked like tarot cards, and now we get the Magic Hat Night of the Living Dead Pack. Guess we’re coming into Halloween. Either that or breweries have taken a cue from the cheap tequila distillers that charge a premium for the skull bottles. Anyway -- deep ruby read, clear, thin whitish head. Bad label, standard longneck. An odd malty aroma - sometimes fruity, sometimes sweaty, sometimes peppery, tannic, with dilute cocoa undertones. Astringent, acidic, dry. Tinny aftertaste. Amateur hour. ABC Liquors, Bull Run. Back to back with Coronado Mermaid’s Ale, which won hands down.

Dark non-transparent nutty amber with a thin beige head. Nose is biscuity and toasty with a kiss of crystal malt, kinda like a vienna. Flavor is slightly overcarbonated with a mild body and little nuance. Lots of toasted english muffin mixed with a dash of earthiness and perhaps a bit of peat, balanced with non-bitter earthy grassy hops that don’t really bring a lot of flavor. Very dry and too balanced and "middle" for it’s own good.

12oz bottle shared by jtclockmaker at jcwatts. Poured a thiner bodied chestnut brown with a smaller dark beige foamy head. Aroma of chocolate, roast, some bread and a touch of acididty for some reason. Lighter bodied with fizzy carbonation. Flavor of chocoalte, roast, grains and fruit skins along with some toast and a hint of cola. Not bad but nothing to search out.
