Dream Machine, an India Pale Lager or IPL, is a melding of varied visions of an India Pale Ale and an Amber Lager. Once poured, its light copper color delights the eyes and a citrusy hop aroma flows through the nose. Upon first sip, a smooth hop bitterness reveals itself - fresh, bold and slightly spicy - before subtle hints of mild maltiness appear. A big hop bite and a crisp, clean lager finish combine for a beautifully balanced beer. Take Dream Machine for a spin and let your reverie begin.

12oz bottle from Wine Academy. Poured a clear deep bronze under a smaller off white tight foamy head. Aroma of grains, penny, green grapes, older citrus meat, fruit skins. Fuller bodied, lively carbonation, average duration on the aftertaste. Flavor is grains, tonic, dry citrus rind, dry toast, grassy hops, hay. Not sure why but I like this one.

Pours a light gold. Has a malt and hop aroma. Taste is a nice mix of a lager and an IPA - malts, grains, but a light bitter hop taste.

Bottle shared by Dr Silverworm. Poured a clear golden color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting and produced good lacing. Moderate citrus hops and small malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Soft brew and but good for style.

Amber color decent head.Slight piney aroma floral too. Taste grainy mineral water bitter hop bite. Not sure about the IPL thing this seems like a cluster@@@ of styles rolled into one, amber beer, English ale.Basicly it tastes like a good attempt at a cheap basic american amber lager at a premium price. Best thing about this is the bright attractive label burned again by magic hat.

Bottle. Címon, this ainít so bad! I think this is a pretty fresh bottle. Pours amber, does look a bit dead in the glass. Nose is pretty typical for a hoppy lager, bready with light fruit notes. Not quite as hoppy as I like but you get some hop action, especially on the finish. Itís no Humulus Lager but itís hard out here, I need more hoppy lagers!

Pours reddish amber, basically no head. Nose is faint hops, lemon, brown sugar. Very light in body, mild caramel flavors followed by a hint of bitter lemon on the end. This beer would be a good summer party offering, but nothing else.

An India Pale Lager is an extra strong lager brewed w/ additional hops in order that it might survive the long boat ride around the horn of Africa. Or maybe it just a cute name for a hoppy American lager. Who knows? In any case this red-orange brew pours w/ a finger-thick head that wantes to a ring after a few minutes. The aroma is very mild and it tastes basically like a slightly more malty IPA. It has a nice floral hop character generally but it is unfortunately marred a bit by a slight buttered popcorn overtone and a very slight metallic taste. This is a bit on the sweetside w/ very faint roast note, which is sort of unexpected but doesnít taste bad. Its medium bodied, creamy and a little bit sticky. This is neither particularly hoppy nor does it lend itself well to quaffing. I guess it is kind of interesting to try but as a beer itís average at best.

Bottle. Moderately hazy, orange-tinted copper, with just a thin head. Not much of an aroma here, perhaps just a hint of freshly clipped flowers. This drinks with a definitively sharper sweet sting than most lagers, crisp and clean but with a floral flourish thatís decidedly not European. (#5510, 5/11/2014)
