Dream Machine, an India Pale Lager or IPL, is a melding of varied visions of an India Pale Ale and an Amber Lager. Once poured, its light copper color delights the eyes and a citrusy hop aroma flows through the nose. Upon first sip, a smooth hop bitterness reveals itself - fresh, bold and slightly spicy - before subtle hints of mild maltiness appear. A big hop bite and a crisp, clean lager finish combine for a beautifully balanced beer. Take Dream Machine for a spin and let your reverie begin.

smells like strong dull ipa. medium rocky head. from a bottle. quite strong personality at first but it seems to mello just a tad after the first gulp. decently good co2 for a highly hopped brew. medicinal finish. seems like more than 6%, does not hide alky well.

Aroma: Pine, hops, citrus. Appearance: light orange, clear. Wispy, white head. Taste: a touch smokey, crisp , hoppy Pine aftertaste. Goes down easy and quickly. Feel: light, airy, medium carbonation. A very drinkable IPL.

This bottled brew from a beer festival poured a small sized head of foamy with a frothy top white colored bubbles that were and left behind a uncarbonated transparent dark orange colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was malty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start with a mellow finish with a lingering malty aftertaste. The odd tasting flavor contained notes of bitter cardboard spices hops and malt. A decent one but not one that I would consider drinking again.

Pours two fingers of head on a clear medium straw colored body. The aroma is like lemon cotton candy. Interesting. The taste has a grainy-lemon undertone of bitterness all the way through, with some good malt backup. Nicely balanced. The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation. Nice with some good flavor.

On tap at Cuginoís. It poured a hazy golden/amber color with a white head. The aroma was of roasted malts and some heavy grassy hops. The taste was medium hoppy with grass and a slight roastiness.

Not too bad. Mild on the hops. Smooth and sweet. I thought that it had more amber lager qualities and could have used and supported more hops.

Bottle from Wegmans. This is a style Iím usually happy for but Magic Hat underwhelms me 95% of the time. This pours clear golden with a small white head that dissipates in seconds to a small film. The aroma has some faint floral notes, a tad bit of straw. Nothing that makes you think of a significant hop profile. If you would compare this to an IPL like Citra Mantra.. Citra Mantra would be a 700 on the ten scale and this would be a 1. This is basically a slightly hopped lager follows suit with Magic Hats "I Brew Crap" quality.

Bottle at home. Pours clear orange with a medium, frothy and creamy off-white head, medium to long retention with good lacing. Aroma is spicy, herbal and pine hops, pineapple and pear notes, meal and Pils malt. Flavor is moderate hops and bitterness, light vinous notes, crisp and lightly sweet malt with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

12 oz. bottle poured into shaker. Clear amber color with two fingers of bubbly off-white head. Somewhat muted hop aroma with some bready undertones. Taste seems more towards the lager end of the spectrum, with the signature finish. Itís perhaps a bit hoppier than a typical lager, but not overly so. While thereís certainly nothing wrong with this, Iím not sure I understand the point of an IPL. Of course I used to think the same thing about Belgian IPAís, but Iíve found a few of those I like. I guess what Iím trying to say is "meh".
